Hidden Gems: Meet Becky Lauridsen of IOME

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Lauridsen

Hi Becky, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into the mental wellness field started from my own struggles. After just three years of being a therapist, I experienced burnout, along with postpartum depression and anxiety. I realized that there had to be a better way to prevent mental health issues before they became overwhelming. I wanted to create a space where self-care and mental health could be prioritized earlier in people’s lives, not just when they reached a breaking point.

Building IOME wasn’t without its challenges. I dealt with imposter syndrome and didn’t have a business degree, so I took it one step at a time, learning along the way. Despite that, my mission of creating accessible and preventative mental health care remained clear. I was willing to call workplaces, offering them simple ways to incorporate mental health support into their employee wellness programs.

Looking back, I realize that if I had intervened earlier in my own journey, I could have prevented much of the burnout and anxiety I faced. I knew there were many people like me, struggling to find high-quality therapy that didn’t feel like a medical appointment, or worse, make them feel like something was wrong with them. This realization fueled my drive to make therapy more approachable.

Today, the impact I see from IOME is what keeps me going. When clients tell me, “I’ve been wanting to do therapy for years but never knew where to start,” it reminds me why I started this in the first place. We’ve simplified the process, making it easier for people to take that first step toward healing, and I’m proud of the difference we’re making.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to building IOME has definitely not been diverse, and I’ve faced my fair share of struggles along the way. In the early days, I had a clear vision, but the overwhelming feeling of trying to make a big impact would sometimes bring up imposter syndrome. I knew what I wanted to create, but there were moments when I questioned whether I was equipped to actually do it.

One of the biggest challenges I encountered was the difficulty of hiring and managing people. I care deeply about providing a great work environment, so when someone would quit, I’d take it personally. It was hard not to feel crushed, and it made me question my worth and whether I was cut out to run a business. It took time to bounce back and focus on the bigger mission.

As IOME grew, I also struggled with learning how to delegate and create a competitive pay structure. I had to trust my vision enough to build a leadership team to help me execute it. This was a tough step, but it was essential to taking IOME to the next level.

Despite all of this, I have a strong work ethic and an unwavering belief in my mission. Even when I question whether it’s all worth it, I’m always reminded of how much I truly love what I do. It’s that passion that keeps me going, no matter the obstacles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At IOME, we specialize in providing comprehensive mental wellness services, including therapy, neurofeedback, and infrared sauna treatments. We offer these services directly to community members and workplaces, focusing on both individual and organizational well-being. Our preventative approach sets us apart from other mental wellness providers. We’re committed to offering high-quality support that provides great value to our clients.

What makes IOME truly unique is our focus on guilt-free self-care and helping people achieve clarity on their goals while freeing them from past burdens. We believe that mental wellness shouldn’t be reactive but proactive, and we work to create a space where people can find peace and clarity before they burn out.

We are most proud of how we’ve stuck to our core values, which have not only benefited IOME as a company but, more importantly, have had a profound, long-lasting impact on our clients. This generational effect is exactly what we hope to achieve—empowering individuals and workplaces to thrive mentally and emotionally.

When people engage with IOME, we want them to feel welcomed, supported, and hopeful about their journey toward better mental health.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis taught me that people needed mental health support long before the pandemic hit. While the pandemic certainly highlighted and exacerbated many issues, the reality is that many of the burdens people faced were already there. COVID just brought them to the forefront. It underscored the importance of addressing mental wellness proactively, long before a crisis point is reached, which is something I’ve always believed in and work to provide through IOME.
