Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Hinojos.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always dreamed of being in the fashion industry! I always believed in looking good, no matter what you’re doing or where you are going! Growing up conservative, my parents and my faith always taught me you can dress nice and fashionably but always keep in mind your values.
I had a few modeling gigs when I was younger, just for fun, and then I started college and started my career in the medical field. After 15 years in the medical field, I decided my calling was elsewhere, doing something that I have always loved… Fashion! So here I am, giving it my all to make my Boutique successful! I love what I do and I love helping other people feel and look great!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not! I started my business in February 2021, in the middle of a Pandemic! Even though things started getting back to “normal”, I felt like it was the right time!
And it definitely has not been easy, I have my good days in business and I have bad days as well. Days when no one will buy anything and days when it’s so busy. But I have to count my blessings… Since I started I have seen an increase in revenue, and although I still have a ways to go to make it successful I am not giving up yet.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I live in a small town in southwest Colorado and we lack a lot of things here. We have to travel over 2 hours to find the nearest mall and I felt like this town needed something that locals can go to without having to travel so much to find something. We have everything from Women’s Apparel, Men’s Apparel, Children’s Apparel, Accessories, Shoes, and more! What sets me apart from other shops in the town is that my shop offers affordable apparel that won’t break the bank.
We already live in an expensive tourist town, I wanted our locals to feel like they can purchase something new without paying an arm and a leg for it! Of course, I also carry name brands that my customers also love, like, Fox Racing Apparel, DC Shoes, Diff Eyewear, and a lot more boutique brands. And the best thing about my shop is that you don’t have to be a local to shop, we offer online shopping as well, and we will ship to you anywhere you are!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that our town has so many delicious places to eat and drink. I am a huge snowboarding enthusiast so our nearest mountain, Wolf Creek, is the best snow in Colorado, It’s affordable and not overly crowded. In summer time I love all the hiking trails we have, lakes, campgrounds, waterfalls, etc.
The thing I like least about Pagosa Springs is how expensive the cost of living has become. The locals and the people that work here struggle to find affordable housing, they sometimes have to have 2-3 jobs to be able to afford the rent.
And as a small business, I struggle to find good help! It’s a huge issue at the moment!
