Hidden Gems: Meet Brooke Kuhn of Spark Marketing & Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Kuhn.

Hi Brooke, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I fell in love with marketing when I joined a business club called DECA when I was 15 years old and this experience inspired me to earn my business degree from CU Boulder. When my son was born I wanted to be as present as possible for him while also pursuing my passion for business and I serendipitously fell into freelance marketing, which made me realize that it is possible to build a career around my life and motherhood. After 3 years I decided to officially launch my own brands, Spark Marketing & Consulting LLC and Brooke’s Babbles, a podcast and blog geared towards coaching aspiring entrepreneurs and moms through the power of storytelling and human connection.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has not been a smooth road but I am thankful for the bumps along the way because they have shown me how much I can overcome and the very worst things I have faced ended up putting me on a better path. After 3 years of freelancing at the company that helped give me my start, I was unexpectedly laid off right before Thanksgiving. I was devastated and had no idea what I was going to do (so I thought) but my heart led me in the right direction, one that it had prepared me for with whispers along the way that I was destined to be an entrepreneur. Once I accepted the direction my heart was leading me, my next struggle was developing my brand, which I find easy to do for clients but difficult to do for my own company. I paid attention to my intuitions and thoughts (or as I like to call them, sparks) that helped me develop my brand and also emphasized the need that businesses have for a marketing consultant with heart to help them develop a brand that aligns with their values.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started Spark to combine my entrepreneurial spirit with my passion for helping people. My approach is all-in-one, one-on-one. As a one woman marketing and consulting agency, credibility and approachability are cornerstones of my brand.

Branding, marketing strategy for both traditional and digital platforms, copywriting and storytelling, and marketing execution are key services that Spark Marketing & Consulting provides. What sets my company apart is my belief that marketing should be done with heart AND strategy. This means combining the creativity that the art of marketing requires with the reasoning that the science of marketing demands.

Whether you’re looking for a rebrand, need a new website, or could use some help navigating social media, I’m here to help!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
As a perfectionist and mompreneur, the Reminders and Notes apps on my phone are crucial to help me keep track of my tasks, jot down sparks that come to me throughout the day, and stay organized. Canva is also an amazing tool that I use for designing anything from routine charts for my son to social media posts, fliers, fridge magnets, and anything else that is beneficial to my clients. Last but not least, the Hallow app is an essential part of my day to day life as I offer up my dreams in faith as I drift off to sleep.
