Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Lindell.
Hi Chelsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my career in child welfare in 2014 after earning my degree in social work, drawn to helping children and families through life’s most challenging moments. Eager to grow, I pursued my Master’s in Social Work and joined Adams County Department of Human Services as a caseworker on the sex abuse team while working toward my LCSW—an experience that laid the foundation for my career.
After becoming a mom in 2021, my priorities shifted. Returning to full-time work after maternity leave was incredibly difficult. The demanding nature of child welfare, paired with a long commute, made it clear I needed better balance for my family and myself. When our babysitter gave notice, it felt like the sign I needed to step back and stay home with my son.
That season at home was filled with milestones, growth, and reflection. I cherished being present with my son while navigating the challenge of stepping away from a career that had helped shape who I was. I missed the sense of purpose and connection that came from helping others. As I began reflecting on what I truly wanted next, I kept coming back to the peace and grounding I had always found in horses.
With encouragement from friends and the unwavering support of my husband, I began exploring equine-assisted therapy. While pregnant with my second child, I took a leap of faith and became certified as an equine-assisted psychotherapist. What started as a dream soon began taking shape—one small step, one connection at a time. Through networking, continued training, and a lot of trust in God’s timing, that dream grew into a thriving small business.
Today, I run my own equine-assisted therapy practice part-time, working with children to foster healing, growth, and connection through horses. It’s deeply fulfilling work that allows me to live out my purpose while maintaining the balance I once longed for—spending most of my week at home with my two young boys, present for the moments that matter most. It’s been a journey of risk, growth, and rediscovery—and I truly feel I’m right where I’m meant to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. It’s been a slow and steady process built on a lot of grit, faith, and hard work. Starting a business while raising a young family required real sacrifice, including late nights and time away from my family to lay the foundation for something I deeply believed in. There were plenty of setbacks along the way, from searching for the right barn and herd of horses to partnering with an equine specialist who shared my same values and vision.
There were moments when I questioned if it would all come together, but through a lot of prayer, perseverance, and the unwavering support of my husband, I kept putting one foot in front of the other. Looking back now, every challenge played a part in shaping the strength, clarity, and purpose behind the practice I have today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Unbridled Resilience Therapy is a place where hope meets healing. We believe deeply in the powerful connection between humans and horses—a bond that nurtures growth, builds confidence, and fosters emotional healing. No matter where you are on your journey, our team and horses provide a safe, supportive space to explore, heal, and grow.
At Unbridled Resilience, we understand that traditional talk therapy doesn’t work for everyone. That’s why our approach is unique—our horses are an integral part of the therapeutic team. All sessions are ground-based and involve no horseback riding, so no prior horse experience is needed. Instead, clients interact with one to three horses in an open arena, engaging in simple activities that promote connection and awareness. Through observation, reflection, and skilled therapeutic guidance, clients gain powerful insights into their emotions, behaviors, and relationships.
We specialize in working with children and adolescents ages 10–18 experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, school struggles, or exposure to violence. Each session is tailored to meet the unique needs of every client, offering a compassionate space for healing and growth. Our family sessions are especially meaningful, offering families a space to reconnect, resolve conflict, and strengthen bonds in a peaceful outdoor setting. Working together through guided exercises, families are able to identify patterns, improve communication, and build healthier relationships.
What sets Unbridled Resilience apart is our belief that true healing happens through experience, connection, and awareness. Horses—with their sensitivity, intuition, and nonjudgmental nature—help clients see themselves more clearly and experience breakthroughs that often take longer in traditional therapy. At its heart, Unbridled Resilience is about hope, courage, and transformation. We’re proud to offer a space where healing feels natural, growth feels possible, and resilience takes root.
