Hidden Gems: Meet Chenoa Bottinelli of Write It Down

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chenoa Bottinelli.

Hi Chenoa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved paper and pens. All my life, I’ve looked for the perfect pen, the most unique notebook, you name it! I even collect vintage office supplies–I just LOVE stationery. In 2021, I was on the hunt for some stationery items that I couldn’t find anywhere in town. I didn’t want to buy it online–I wanted it local and I wanted it NOW. I walked out of a box office supply store, came home, and complained to my husband about how these items should be readily available and maybe I should just start my own stationery store. He agreed–and he was serious. So I did! Over a year later, I’m known around town as the stationery girl. I have people who follow me around to events, order from my website, and even business owners who bulk order from me for their clients and events. This little business has taken off beyond what I ever imagined it would and I’m so proud to be part it!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This little store is a side project for me. I have a full-time job, a family, and I spend a lot of time outside so planning the time to do events can be difficult at times. I’ve struggled to figure out the best way to display my items, which items to stock, and how to get more orders from my website. I have had many trials and errors but I am starting to feel like everything is getting on the right track!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
A stationery store with a great selection of notebooks, notepads, and desk accessories. We very much live in a digital world but paper is still a necessity. People still need to “write it down” alongside their phones and computers. I carry products that make it easier to keep track of things to do, meal plan, take notes, and more. I like functional and visually pleasing items and I strive to make sure I have products for everyone: men, women, students, professionals, and even kids! Write It Down has also become known for our NSFW office products that are meant to be used at work—it helps you get through the work day!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I’m asked all the time how I am able to juggle everything that I do and honestly, it’s because I’m always focused on being highly efficient with my time: I don’t mindlessly scroll social media, I do my best to limit distractions, and know when I’m most productive during the day. My brain is always working and it’s difficult for me to go to bed most nights. But, I also give myself permission to not do things that are going to stress me out and make me dread them—I find that will really slow me down. I also have help. I have a husband that is equally invested in our family and home life and parents that help take care of my kids.
