Hidden Gems: Meet Daniela Uslan of Befriend the Zodiac

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Uslan.

Hi Daniela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been into tarot, but I really dove into it when the pandemic hit in 2020 and I took a course called Tarot for the Wild Soul with Lindsay Mack. She talked about the cards as friends and allies that can help us grow as people and do the work we’re meant to do in the world. The tarot became a source of healing and support in the uncertain and often scary time of lockdowns and isolation. I created a tarot journal on an app called Notion to help me learn the cards and to deepen my relationship with them. When I launched it online, many people purchased it to record their own pulls and to learn the meanings of the tarot cards.

Each tarot card is linked to a planet or zodiac sign, so I decided to learn astrology so that I could better understand the cards and how they are connected to each other. I then became so fascinated with astrology that I decided to learn as much as I could about it. I’ve taken many online courses on astrology, including the AstroButterfly Wings PRO Certification.

I also began reading tarot and doing birth chart readings for friends and online clients, as well as reading at parties and events in the Denver area. Now I teach about tarot and astrology online and in person, and I also do 1:1 readings for clients here and all over the world. Every time I do a reading, I feel privileged to get a glimpse into the inner workings of my clients’ lives and to help them find direction and self-compassion in the process.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an interesting journey! Before doing tarot and astrology, I had a variety of different online businesses. Learning how to create a hybrid business (in person and online) has been a bit of a challenge. I’ve read tarot at a few fairs where there weren’t many customers, and I’ve even had people say disparaging things to me about tarot. For the most part, however, people are very open and curious about what I do.

In the beginning, when I did tarot readings, I had a bit more doubt about whether my readings would resonate with people. As I’ve done hundreds of readings, I now feel a lot more confident when I pick cards, and I find that they always speak to my clients, often in ways I didn’t anticipate.

I also have some people tell me they are afraid to get a reading. Some tarot readers and astrologers approach their craft with an emphasis on fortune telling, which can sometimes involve predicting scary things. I always tell my clients that I believe all of the cards and the astrological events are here to help us evolve, even the “scary” ones. That helps them feel safer to get a reading from me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a tarot reader and astrologer. I do 1:1 readings online and at my office west of City Park in Denver. You can also find me at markets and fairs throughout the Denver area, or you can hire me to read tarot and/or astrology at your party or event.

I work with tarot and astrology lovers who want to use these mystical tools to better understand themselves and the world. I approach my readings as a reader and a teacher, explaining what the cards and astrology placements mean as I provide insight and advice. I am very down to earth and explain things in a straightforward, easy to understand way.
My goal is to help my clients come away saying, “Wow, that’s why I am the way I am! I feel so much better now!”

I believe that everyone is intuitive and has an innate connection with tarot and astrology. As such, I provide opportunities for my clients to forge their own connections with the cards and the stars, whether by learning about their meanings, using tools to connect to them on a regular basis, or through creative writing. visualization, and other intuitive practices. My focus is on helping my clients forge relationships with tarot and astrology through ongoing practice and exploration.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I taught 3rd grade in Denver Public Schools and I have an MA in Educational Psychology. A lot of my philosophy and teaching style comes from teaching 8 and 9 year olds!
