Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Dominguez.
Hi Elizabeth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, into a humble but loving family. From an early age, I grew up watching my father with his camera, capturing moments with passion and sensitivity. He was my first inspiration — the reason I learned to see the world through curious eyes, always searching for beauty even in the simplest moments.
I earned a degree in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, and although my professional path could have gone in many directions, life led me toward my true calling. When my daughter was born, I realized that I wanted to create a life that allowed me to be present for her without giving up on my dreams. That’s when I decided to dedicate myself fully to photography — a path that has allowed me to combine passion, purpose, and freedom.
I have lived in five states — New Mexico, Texas, Nebraska, Nevada, and now Colorado — and each one has marked a significant chapter in my personal and professional growth. In Las Cruces, New Mexico, I took my first professional photographs. In El Paso, Texas, I officially founded Elizabeth Dominguez Photography. In Nebraska and Nevada, I continued refining my art, and in Colorado, I’ve found a place where my creativity and purpose have flourished more than ever.
As a survivor of domestic violence, I know what it means to rebuild your life from pain. Going through a divorce and starting over as a mother of two was one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced — but also one of the most transformative. Photography became my refuge, my therapy, and my way of healing. Behind every photo I take, there is a story of faith, hope, and rebirth.
My empathy and humility come from those experiences. I love being involved in my community, supporting others, and sharing what I’ve learned, because I truly believe that when one person heals, they can also help others heal.
From that place of connection, my project “The Power of Photography: Transforming Self-Esteem” was born — an initiative where I use art to help women who have faced pain or loss rediscover their worth, identity, and inner beauty. My mission is to inspire them to see themselves through new eyes and remind them that their story doesn’t end in suffering, but in transformation.
Life has taught me that to achieve the perfect capture — in photography and in life — you need creativity, imagination, and a good focus.
That is the slogan that guides my work and my story: one of faith, perseverance, and love, still being written with every new photograph.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Behind every accomplishment, there have been many nights filled with effort, tears, faith, and determination. Being a mother, an entrepreneur, and a photographer at the same time has been a constant balance between my dreams and my responsibilities.
One of the biggest challenges was starting over after my divorce, with two young children and no close support network. There were moments of doubt, fear, and exhaustion — but also moments when I discovered my true strength. Photography became my anchor; it gave me purpose when everything felt uncertain and reminded me that light always returns, even after the darkest times.
I also faced challenges as a woman building her own path in a competitive environment — learning to trust my voice, value my work, and stay true to my ideals. Each challenge taught me something essential: the importance of patience, faith, and authenticity.
Looking back now, I’m grateful for every obstacle, because they shaped me not only as a photographer but as a woman. I’ve learned that even the hardest roads can be beautiful when walked with hope, purpose, and gratitude.
We’ve been impressed with Elizabeth Dominguez Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called Elizabeth Dominguez Photography, and it’s more than just a service — it’s an experience designed to capture genuine emotion and the true essence of every person I photograph. I specialize in quinceañera sessions, weddings, maternity, family portraits, professional headshots, and meaningful personal projects. Each session is a story told through light, emotion, and connection.
What sets me apart is my human approach. I don’t just take photos — I connect with people. I strive to create a comfortable and authentic environment where my clients can truly be themselves, without pressure or posing. My goal is to reflect their best selves with honesty and emotion.
I am also the creator of “El Poder de la Fotografía: Transformando la Autoestima”, a social impact project that helps women who have faced pain or loss reconnect with their identity, strength, and beauty through portraits. This project represents the heart of my brand: using photography as a tool for healing and empowerment.
Another aspect I’m proud of is offering flexible payment plans, because I believe everyone deserves beautiful memories without the stress of paying all at once. My goal is to make professional photography more accessible and inclusive for all.
I’m proud to have built a brand grounded in empathy, trust, and love for real stories. I truly believe that photography goes beyond creating a perfect image — it’s about creating an experience that can inspire, heal, and transform.
My slogan says it best:
“You need creativity, imagination, and a good focus for the perfect capture.” “Hay que tener creatividad, imaginación y un buen enfoque para la captura perfecta.”
That’s what I apply in every session, every story, and every new chapter of my life as a photographer and as a woman.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that many people don’t know about me is that, even though I’m always smiling, I’m a resilient woman who has faced her own internal battles. Life hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned that even in difficult moments, there’s always a lesson, a reason, and something good to be found.
I’m someone who chooses gratitude over bitterness and growth over pain. Every experience — good or bad — has helped shape who I am today. Photography has taught me to appreciate the light, but also to embrace the shadows, because both are part of every story.
People often don’t realize how much effort it takes to stay balanced , emotionally, as a mother, and as a professional
but I always give my best with a genuine smile and an open heart. My commitment to my clients is to always be professional, compassionate, and to transmit hope through my lens.
What might surprise most is that, while my work is about capturing other people’s light, photography is what helped me find my own — even in my darkest days.
