Hidden Gems: Meet Emily Moeschler of Mission Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Moeschler.

Emily Moeschler

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m an entrepreneur, marketing leader, outdoor advocate, and Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) dedicated to advancing the well-being of people, communities, and our planet. I founded Mission Marketing Colorado five years ago to support the growth of purpose-led organizations driving environmental and social impact, building on 15+ years of experience leading initiatives for American Forests, The Trust for Public Land, Avid4 Adventure, and the Outdoor Industry Association. Whether it’s expanding equitable access to the outdoors, advocating for public lands, or advancing health equity, I help organizations and groups translate their mission and vision into actionable strategies and meaningful change.

My path in the outdoor sector spans more than 20 years. It began as a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Leadership Semester student and then as an AmeriCorps Service Member, where I developed a deep appreciation for leadership, community, and immersion in the outdoors. Since then, I’ve served as a Wilderness EMT, rock climbing instructor, whitewater rafter, backpacking leader, and certified backcountry trail worker, and I continue to give back as a volunteer committee member for an environmental education nonprofit.

I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Adventure Education and Ecopsychology, a master’s in Environmental Leadership and Sustainability, and certifications in Content Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Social Media Marketing. I am trained in Nonviolent Communication, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Authentic Leadership, and have participated in wilderness rites of passage programs, a Vision Fast with the School of Lost Borders, and several wellness and yoga retreats.

Alongside this work, I founded Wild Path Coaching, where I support clients in deepening their connection to nature, cultivating mindfulness, and exploring sustainable lifestyle changes. My coaching integrates evidence-based practices with environmental and outdoor leadership expertise, reflecting my belief that personal well-being and environmental health are deeply interconnected. By supporting individuals in their wellness journeys, I aim to create ripple effects that benefit communities and the broader environment.

Additionally, my love of travel and immersive cultural experiences has taken me from swimming with mola-mola fish in Bali and volunteering in Belize to trekking through Thailand, paddleboarding along the Colombian coast, backpacking for three months in the Sonoran Desert in Mexico, and rafting and fly fishing across the Western United States. I’ve also explored the Caribbean, Central America, and most recently, with my husband, witnessed the northern lights in Iceland and experienced Nordic cuisine in Denmark. These journeys, paired with my work in conservation and restoration projects across the American West—including Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, Zion, Grand Teton, and Rocky Mountain National Parks—have deepened my understanding of global perspectives, cultural connection, and environmental stewardship.

After 15+ years living in the Colorado mountains with my husband, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, and our Australian Cattle Dog, Tank, I remain deeply connected to the outdoor community I serve. I support my husband’s company, Serafin Tree Service, with tree planting projects across Boulder County, giving me a tangible way to advance sustainability and community impact locally.

At the heart of all my work—whether scaling purpose-driven organizations, coaching individuals, or advocating for the environment—is a simple belief: the well-being of our planet, communities, and ourselves is interdependent. By supporting both individual and collective well-being, I believe we can also strengthen our ability to care for and advocate for the planet. Creating systemic, equitable change starts with taking action to care for ourselves, each other, our communities, and our shared home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? Not really. The path has rarely been straight—which is part of why I named my coaching practice Wild Path, to honor the twists, turns, and learning curves we all encounter. Building Mission Marketing Colorado and Wild Path Coaching has required navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship, translating passion into impact, and adapting to socio-cultural and political shifts. These shifts, along with the urgent challenges of climate change and social inequities, demand agility, resilience, collective action and creative problem-solving.

Advocating for the individuals, organizations, and communities working to address these critical issues is not always easy, but it’s deeply rewarding. Each challenge—whether in scaling purpose-driven organizations, supporting individual behavior change, or advancing environmental advocacy—has reinforced my belief in the interconnectedness of personal, community, and planetary well-being, as well as our responsibility to act. The journey may not be straight, but it’s meaningful, and creating bite-sized, sustainable daily habits aligned with core values and vision makes every step along the path worthwhile.
