Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Veak
Hi Emily, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into hypnotherapy actually started in the world of psychiatric care. I began as a behavioral health technician and later became a program therapist at an Eating Recovery Center for children and adolescents. From there, I moved on to working as a Behavioral Health Specialist at the Children’s Hospital. At the time, my plan was to get my doctorate in psychology, but something about that path never felt exactly right.
Everything changed when I met my friend Justin (also a hypnotherapist with Mind Will Heal) at the hospital. He facilitated a hypnosis journey for me that was truly life-changing. For the first time, I felt deeply connected to my body, revisiting past memories with a sense of clarity and healing that I hadn’t experienced before. I had been in and out of talk therapy for over a decade, and while it helped in many ways, I still struggled with the physical symptoms of depression and anxiety—I just didn’t feel good. But after that hypnosis session, something clicked.
That experience led me to enroll at the Alchemy Institute of Hypnosis, and I never looked back. Now, I get to help others experience the kind of breakthroughs that changed my life, whether it’s emotional clearing, inner child work, past life regression, or strengthening their relationships with themselves and others. It’s been an incredible journey, and I feel so grateful to be doing this work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not always been a smooth road! One of the biggest challenges has been explaining what I do to people who see hypnotherapy as “woo woo” or “wacky.” When you believe in something so deeply and have experienced its transformative power firsthand, it can be frustrating to have others downplay or invalidate it. But over time, I’ve learned to let the results speak for themselves—both in my own life and in the incredible testimonials from my clients.
Another big challenge was the emotional clearing work I did while training at the Alchemy Institute of Hypnosis. It was intense, sometimes draining, and emotionally exhausting. But I knew that working through my own healing was essential to becoming the best facilitator I could be. Looking back, I’m grateful for those experiences because they allow me to hold space for my clients in a way that feels grounded, compassionate, and effective.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Opalescent Hypnosis ?
My practice is all about helping people access their subconscious mind to heal, grow, and gain clarity in ways that traditional talk therapy sometimes can’t reach. I specialize in emotional clearing for trauma, inner child work, past life regression, somatic healing, and guiding people toward self-acceptance and personal transformation. I also help clients strengthen relationships, overcome addiction, unlock creative potential, and more.
As a queer woman, I’m especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals on self-acceptance, identity exploration, and healing from past experiences of rejection or internalized shame. Having navigated my own journey, I know how powerful subconscious healing can be in reclaiming authenticity and confidence.
What sets my practice apart is my deeply personalized approach. Every session is tailored to the individual, blending intuition, science, and spirituality to create a healing experience that meets clients exactly where they are. Hypnosis isn’t just about relaxation or suggestion—it’s about deep, lasting change at the subconscious level. I believe in it because I’ve experienced its impact firsthand.
I’m most proud of the safe, welcoming, and transformative space I’ve built for my clients. Whether it’s helping someone release old wounds, reconnect with their inner child, or find their creative spark, my goal is always to empower people to step into their most authentic selves.
In addition to one-on-one sessions, I now offer group workshops, primarily in collaboration with my dear friend Sam Herrendorf (Facilitated Movement). Together, we create a unique experience combining movement and guided hypnosis, held at the Sakala community space.
For those curious, I offer in-person sessions in Denver at Nurture Wellcare Marketplace (Tuesday–Thursday) and virtual sessions for clients anywhere (Monday–Friday, with some weekend availability). I also provide free 15-minute consultations for those who want to learn more before diving in. If you’re ready to explore, heal, and grow, I’d love to work with you!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Allow yourself to be completely vulnerable during your schooling or training—it can be tough, but it’s absolutely worth it. If you’re not naturally business-minded (like me!), seek out people who are. Logistical aspects weren’t my strong suit, so I had to find mentors and peers who understood what it’s like to start a small business. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn as you go.
One thing I wish I had done sooner is seeking out community. Connecting with like-minded people not only provides support but also helps get your business out there in a more organic way. Building relationships—whether with fellow practitioners or potential clients—can make all the difference.
