Hi Emma, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the wedding industry began around nine years ago while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder. During that time, I joined a planning and coordination company in Boulder, initially as an assistant and later as a lead planner, balancing it as a part-time job alongside my studies.

From the outset, there was an instant connection for me with the intricacies of wedding planning. The more I learned about the industry, the more I grew to love it. I discovered that I had a natural talent for creativity and organization—two pivotal traits for any planner— and I found my calling in a role that seemed tailor-made for me. Each wedding I worked on presented a fresh canvas, which made my experience endlessly engaging and fulfilling (lucky me!).

Following my graduation from CU, I moved to Denver, where I served as a lead planner for another year before taking the leap to establish Moss & Maeve. Venturing out on my own and building a business has proven to be the most rewarding decision of my career. I love every part of wedding planning, and I’m always honored to be entrusted with such an important role in one of life’s biggest moments – it’s a privilege I don’t take lightly!

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building Moss & Maeve from the ground up has been anything but smooth! I started Moss & Maeve in 2018, right before the pandemic started and weddings were shut down. It was an incredibly discouraging time, but despite the restrictions, my clients remained committed to Moss & Maeve. I truly believe this was what kept us going throughout the pandemic.

Instead of planning the larger events we were used to, we pivoted to accommodate elopements and “micro weddings.” Through perseverance and the support of our clients, Moss & Maeve weathered the storm, and now we are busier than ever. We are back to planning weddings of all kinds! The journey has been a bit bumpy, but the challenges we’ve overcome have defined Moss & Maeve’s identity and solidified our place in the industry. I’m confident that the future holds even greater things in store.

Luck has undoubtedly played a role in both my life and business journey. Despite meticulous planning, there were plenty of moments of uncertainty, especially during the pandemic, where my business had to adapt quickly.
