Hidden Gems: Meet Jamie Erickson of Bee Squared Apiaries

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Erickson.

Hi Jamie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started working for Beth about 15 years ago! It started as a very part-time position in high school, pouring orders in her basement with a single honey tank, and over the years had developed into my full-time job. When we built the production facility that is now the “honey house” I had taken over the role of managing orders, deliveries, working booths at shows, and everything else that needed done to fulfill orders.. As the company grew, we hired more employees to take over my positions and I continued to work up the ladder taking on greater responsibilities.
Over the past couple of years Beth started to mention her retirement goals, which presented the opportunity for me to take over the business. I jumped at this opportunity and last year, 2025, Beth retired and I took over as the new owner of Bee Squared.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am now has been rather smooth, with a lot of hard work involved!
Beth has taught me everything I know about the business and being a part of it for so long has made the transition to owner rather smooth sailing.
Every business has its own struggles, but we love the industry we’re in and the people we work with.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Bee Squared Apiaries specializes in local honeys, specialty honeys, beeswax candles and all-natural soaps.
What really sets us apart from other companies is our award-winning specialty honey flavors. We have four Good Food Award winning flavors: fennel pollen honey, rose petal infused honey, sea salt caramel honey, and whiskey barrel aged honey. All of which are delectable and well deserving of the awards.
We also donate a portion of our sales to various non-profit organizations that go towards supporting pollinators, the environment, wildlife, conservations, and much more. We are proud to donate to so many causes that help our planet and people thrive.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a very active kid growing up. I participated in many different sports like soccer, lacrosse, baseball and basketball. I also loved riding dirt bikes, four wheelers, snowmobiles, or really anything with an engine.
My friends were also very important to me and I spent much of my time surrounded by them. I was very bad at being bored and felt like I always had to be doing something to keep myself occupied.
