Hidden Gems: Meet Jennifer Accola of Vision Design Build

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Accola.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our (my husband and I) journey into starting the business really began with doing our own house projects. What started as a personal interest quickly turned into a passion for making living spaces more beautiful, functional, and thoughtfully designed. As we gained experience, we realized we had a real eye for detail and a talent for transforming spaces. That passion naturally evolved into buying and fixing up homes in high-end real estate markets, where we saw the impact of quality design paired with smart investment decisions. Over time, our work caught the attention of others, and what began as a personal endeavor organically grew into a full design-build business. It was never about starting a business just for the sake of it, but it was about turning something we genuinely loved into something that could help others love where they live.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting to where we are today wasn’t always easy, it’s been a journey of learning, growing, and constantly improving. We’ve faced plenty of challenges, but we’ve overcome them by being willing to learn as we go and by staying committed to doing better every single day. One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that in renovations, nothing ever goes 100% according to plan. The key is to prepare, anticipate, and adapt, because how you handle the unexpected is what makes all the difference.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re a small but passionate design firm that specializes in large-scale, high-end remodels and new builds. What sets us apart is our hands-on, collaborative approach. We don’t just design beautiful spaces, we focus on creating homes that feel deeply personal and functional, tailored to each client’s lifestyle and vision. Our background in doing our own projects has given us a practical, grounded perspective that we carry into every job.

What we want the world to know about our brand is that we truly care. We’re here to help clients bring their vision to life, not just by creating beautiful designs, but by guiding them through the process with honesty, care, and expertise. Our goal is to make their home feel like them. Elevated, intentional, and uniquely theirs is our end goal.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
As a designer, I’ve found that mentorship and networking often happen organically through peer relationships. Connecting with other designers has been incredibly valuable. We share ideas, talk openly about what works and what doesn’t, and exchange trusted vendors and resources. Having people in the same industry who genuinely root for you makes a big difference and helps combat the feeling of working alone.

For me, the most effective networking has come from building authentic, supportive relationships rather than focusing on competition. Those shared conversations and mutual encouragement have not only helped me grow professionally but have also created a sense of community that feels just as important as formal mentorship.
