Hidden Gems: Meet Jessica (“Jessie”) Scott of Alpenglow Travel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica (“Jessie”) Scott.

Hi Jessica (“Jessie”), thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Jessica’s decade-long tenure in the Luxury Travel Industry has equipped her with a wealth of invaluable insights and widespread connections around the globe. Her exposure to both the supplier side and the client side of the business has allowed her to cultivate deep relationships within the industry, as well as an impressive roster of clients that include prominent entrepreneurs and business leaders. Jessica has a unique perspective that enables her to curate extraordinary bespoke client experiences.

After earning her degree from Cornell University, Jessica went into Investment Banking in New York City, but ultimately realized that her passion for exploring the world and attention to detail were best suited for a career in the travel industry. This revelation resulted in Jessica moving back to Colorado to join Inspirato, a Luxury Travel Club based out of Denver. At Inspirato, Jessica played a pivotal role in pioneering an innovative hotel program and emerged as an expert on luxury properties and destinations worldwide.

Driven to share her wealth of knowledge and personal passion, Jessica founded her own boutique luxury travel agency Alpenglow Travel (previously “J. Scott Travel”), where she leverages her expertise and connections to design one-of-a-kind journeys for her clients. Jessica’s approach to planning travel is characterized by a commitment to excellence, highly curated experiences, and a dedication to exceeding her client’s expectations. With her focus on personalization and seamless execution, Jessica provides her clients with peace of mind, as well as memories that will last a lifetime.

Today, Jessica resides in her hometown of Boulder, Colorado where she enjoys sharing her love of travel with her own family – her two sons both collected their first passport stamps when they were just a few months old. Out of the over 60 countries she has explored, East Africa, Indonesia, Greece, and Italy are among her favorites. When Jessica is not planning trips for her clients or exploring the world herself, she can be found skiing, hiking, or enjoying the great outdoors with her friends and family.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have absolutely been challenges along the way (is starting a business ever a smooth road!?)!!!

I’d say one of the biggest challenges I faced early-on was COVID! Since I launched my business in 2021, immediately following the COVID travel shutdown, I was a bit hesitant to aggressively market my business right off the bat. That said, I started by booking travel for friends and family, and from there, things grew quite organically, mainly through referrals. Referrals and word of mouth have been the foundation of growth for my business. It is amazing how one good client can lead to an expansive network of referrals and phenomenal business. Though COVID was undoubtedly one of the most difficult challenges the travel industry has ever faced, I believe it made the industry so much stronger, and made people even more appreciative of the wonders of travel.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Prior to joining the travel industry, I worked in Investment Banking on Wall Street. After having spent a good amount of time in both industries, it is safe to say that I am much more passionate about safaris than spreadsheets!

  • For hotel or cruise-only bookings, we don’t charge a fee to book preferred partners and we pass along valuable added benefits, so it’s a win-win! For itineraries that involve more upfront research, extensive logistics or more involved planning services, planning fees may apply based on the specifics of the trip.
