Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Astorga.
Hi Jorge, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started all of this with a simple dream — to build something of my own and create a different future for my family. I grew up surrounded by beautiful landscapes, and from a young age I felt connected to the outdoors. Even before I knew it would become my career, landscaping was already part of who I was.
In the beginning, it wasn’t easy. I worked two jobs, cooking and doing tree work, just trying to stay afloat while holding onto that dream. Eventually, I met a family who gave me an opportunity in construction and outdoor work. I left the kitchen behind and stepped into something completely new, struggling but determined to learn. Scott gave me that chance, and even then, he always believed he was helping me build a future, not just a job.
Then one moment changed everything. I was working in a neighborhood when a woman — honestly, an angel — walked up to me pushing a stroller with her baby. She asked if I could help with some tree work. That small interaction changed my life. It opened a door, gave me belief, confidence and put me on the path I’m on today. From that moment on, I knew this was what I was meant to do — not just build landscapes, but build a life with purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Definitely not.
There have been hard days, long nights, and moments where I didn’t know how I was going to keep going. But behind me, I’ve always had strong inspiration and an even stronger passion for what I do. That passion is what keeps me moving forward when things get heavy.
The hardest part for me isn’t the work — it’s the responsibility. Creating more jobs, building something stable, and making sure my team can support their families means everything to me. I know what it feels like to struggle, to worry about how you’re going to take care of the people you love. I’ve lived that.
That’s why this business is bigger than landscaping for me. It’s about giving people opportunity, dignity, and a future they can believe in — the same chance someone once gave me.
We’ve been impressed with Canyon Point Landscaping, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Yes — from the very beginning.
Starting CPL meant living with the constant question of “What if I fail?” That fear was always there. But along the way, I learned that every mistake teaches you something. Every failure makes you stronger, wiser, and more prepared for what’s next.
And the truth is — I have failed. More than once. But I never gave up. I learned how to stand back up, rebuild myself, and keep moving forward. The real story is, I don’t even know how I got here on my own. What I do know is that I didn’t do it alone. My team and I built this together. Their trust, hard work, and belief carried me when I couldn’t carry myself — and that’s what makes this journey so meaningful.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’ve always been told that to succeed you need to “get up, get dressed, and show up.” Truly, that’s been the formula—along with a lot of hard work and a great team. One of the most surprising things has been that word of mouth has become our best marketer. Client reviews have gone wild because that’s simply what Canyon Point Landscaping does. We still have a long way to go, but every call we get makes me more excited that my dream is becoming a reality.
