Hidden Gems: Meet Josiah & Meg Mothershed of Mothershed Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josiah & Meg Mothershed. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Josiah Mothershed started Mothershed Design Co. in the fall of 2016 after leaving his previous position as a graphic designer at a local branding agency. The business quickly became successful, but with a growing client base and endless to-do list, he needed someone to trust to help turn a one-man show into a full-fledged business.

That’s where his wife, Meg Mothershed, came in. With a design background and a passion for entrepreneurship from a young age, joining forces with Josiah was a no-brainer. Meg joined Josiah full-time at the studio in 2018.

This year marks eight years in business!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
We’ve faced our share of challenges along the way, the most recent being the birth of our incredible daughter in the fall of 2022. From navigating planning for maternity/paternity leave as solo operators of our business to now juggling being both working and stay-at-home parents, the journey of entrepreneurship is never easy.

Even with its ups and downs, we wouldn’t have it any other way! We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be able to have the best of both worlds—being able to spend time with our daughter each day as well as run our own business. It’s a balancing act, but becoming parents has strengthened our relationship and business.

Mothershed Design Co. is a boutique branding and web design studio based outside sunny Denver, Colorado. Owned and operated by Josiah and Meg Mothershed, we’re a husband-wife team that’s passionate about helping small businesses succeed.
