Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Rauth.
Hi Kevin, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in high school. I was looking for a musical outlet and I was always a fan of the electronic culture. I decided to learn how to DJ for fun. It was a very rewarding process; I made a lot of friends and was able to learn more about the musical industry as a result.
Life goes on, and becoming an adult is inevitable. Fast forward a few years to my college days, I was about halfway through the electrical engineering program. I planned on working in Renewable Energy, which I had a passion for. Sadly, the biggest thing my college education taught me was that I had zero interest in my chosen field, and I was setting myself up for a lifetime of boredom/sadness. Needless to say, I dropped out of college with no secondary plans.
Eventually, I started finding success, and an interesting future in the construction industry. I was working every hard as a carpenter with plans on turning it into my career. Meanwhile, I was still DJing for fun several nights per week. At this stage, DJing was still a hobby to me. However, against my “better” judgment, it was not allowed to become my primary focus because I didn’t understand you can create your own career out of whatever you love in this world.
A few years went by, and I personally hit a wall in my life. I realized I did not want to be in construction as a career. I felt like there was nothing out there for me. I decided to risk everything I built at home and drove out to Colorado to start a new life.
When I arrived in Colorado, I was quick able to start working as a professional DJ for the many amazing local companies. It was fun and rewarding, and I couldn’t believe it was paying my bills! After a few months of being a professional DJ, and having nothing else going on, I realized my current trajectory was creating a lot of happiness in my life. I decided to double-down and go all in and create a career in the DJ/Lighting/Production world. From there, Denver Lighting and DJ Services was born!
Things fell into place the way they did, and my company eventually began to specialize in the Wedding Industry. This brings us to the present – Today we’re growing at a crazy pace, meeting tons of amazing people, and helping them create one of the biggest days of their lives. I wouldn’t trade my career or company for the world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing worth having comes easy. I think any journey in life will come with a few tough days along the way. Looking back, I can safely say my biggest adversity was myself! For the first large portion of my life, I thought you had to do what society told you to be successful. For example, going to college, starting a family, becoming a DR, lawyer, or astronaut to make is required to thrive in this world. Wow, was I wrong!
Eventually, I found the courage to change my limiting self-belief system, and I was fortunate enough to have the insight to realize my thinking process was erred and needed to be corrected.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
