Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Shirley.

Hi Kyle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Sol Vista Roofing in 2020 after having multiple frustrating experiences as a customer of other roofers around town. I knew I could use my experience in setting up professional customer service processes to create a roofing company that truly focused on the client’s needs.

We launched, had some slow growth, and then suddenly the referrals started to flood in. It was working, the experience we provided was exceeding our customers’ expectations to the point that they sent their neighbors and family to us.

We have already made an impact in commercial roofing as well, by keeping a similar focus on client needs. By putting client needs above the best outcome for our business, we end up getting more business anyway! In commercial roofing, some building owners come to us thinking they need a new roof, when in fact we can repair their existing roof and save significant budget.

This honesty has catapulted our commercial roof repair business beyond our expectations.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have experienced a lot of success, even early success. But it has not always been smooth. As a new roofing company, some of the issues we’ve already had to endure include Stolen trucks.

• Employee theft
• Jobsite materials being stolen
• National roofing material shortage (commercial in 2021, residential in 2023)
• Employee retention difficulties
• Failed and broken equipment on job sites

These aren’t unusual, but as a new business, these challenges slowed us down. Thankfully we kept pushing and have made it through even stronger!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sol Vista Roofing?
We are a full-service roofing company. We specialize in roof repairs, roof replacements, and commercial roof coatings. We have teams dedicated to commercial roof repairs, and teams for residential/shingle roof repairs and replacements.

Our commercial roof repair team focuses on getting the most life possible out of existing commercial roofs. We are great at replacing commercial roofs, but we only replace a commercial roof as a last resort after the roof’s life has expired.

Our residential team only installs impact-resistant roofing materials, for the same price other companies charge for non-impact-rated materials. With the amount of hail we receive in the Denver area, we don’t feel comfortable installing anything other than impact-resistant products.

We also offer a lifetime workmanship warranty on all residential roofs we install. We are proud of our work and we back it up with our warranty coverage!

Be open-minded about your entrepreneurial journey.

The way you envision the journey going will probably not be the way it happens in actuality. Sometimes it will be easier, sometimes harder. The more open-minded you can be about the journey, the more success you will have!
