Today we’d like to introduce you to Leandra Jackson.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
While in the Army as a truck driver (88M) and stationed in Germany from 2000-2002, I was called to help others in a more direct way with massage therapy.
When I ETS’d from the Army in 2006, I set out to find my massage school and landed at Colorado School of Healing Arts in Lakewood, CO. CSHA was amazing and had an extensive program. I earned my first certification in 2007 and graduated with an Associate of Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy in 2009. Specializing in Neuromuscular, Lymphatic, and Spa. My niche for helping others rehabilitate from injuries and chronic pain was becoming known and my practice, Peak Spa and Wellness, in South Colorado Springs was growing. In 2014, I received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science which allows me to help others from in a much wider scope for a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.
In 2018, my dear friend Rachel Buckley with Nature Mama Body Care introduced me to the doTERRA essential oils and I fell in love immediately. The purity, consistency, and quality were beyond any others I have tried to that point. Needless to say, I bought the biggest kit I could at the time, the Natural Solutions Kit. While using the doTERRA oils in my practice and at home the benefits were becoming obvious. Better air quality, better mood and reactions from clients, no more skin irritations that other oils had occasionally caused, and improved immune health, to name just a few of the benefits.
I now had a great natural line of products and essential oils that I could offer to others for their health and wellness because I knew they worked. My new plan was to retire my hands from massage by 2027, which will make it a 20-year career, and to solely be working as a doTERRA Wellness Advocate, Nutritionist, and Yoga teacher (in the works).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can say no road worth traveling is smooth. Army service came with its struggles. Joining in 1999 on the delayed entry program and leaving 5 days after graduation I would have never imagined going to war just 2 years later. This led to two tours in Iraq and as a truck driver let’s just say the danger was real.
The long road to good physical and mental health was and still is a necessary component of my life. It’s not about thinking I was healthy and then I was good, it’s the result of staying healthy due to the choices I make every day for a better future. After the Army running a business had many challenges of its own. Staff, income, taxes, clients, raising a family, etc. Thankfully, I have a very supportive husband who helped in the ways he could throughout the years while still working his full-time job.
We moved into a bigger house east of Colorado Springs I closed my practice and worked from home very part-time in 2019 because my mom came to live with us. She was in the advanced stages of dementia/Alzheimer’s. It was truly a blessing to be able to take her in. During 2020, I could not do massage and over time not working was weighing on me, mentally with some severe cabin fever as were so many others, and the family financially. Up till then, I had been using the doTERRA products for us and clients not really as a business and it dawned on me that I had an income opportunity right here at my fingertips.
You see, during the covid epidemic, it was the doTERRA supplements and oils that kept us healthy. We were also able to replace my mom’s functional medicine supplements with them, which saved her about $500 a month. During her last 4 years good nutrition, oils, and supplements supported my mom’s health better than I could have imagined. She did pass in May of 2023, however she was up and active almost up to the very end. I miss her every day and am so grateful we had those last years close together.
As you know, we’re big fans of Peak Oils for Life. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Peak Oils for Life is part of my company Peak Spa and Wellness, LLC. Peak Spa will be retired when the massage side of my business retires. I specialize in individualized self-care techniques, nutrition consulting, and ways to manage a healthier lifestyle using natural solutions like doTERRA’s Certified Pure Tested Grade Essential oils and smart nutritional supplementation.
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in how the body heals and what we can do for ourselves to facilitate good health. Massage school was my introduction to just how many healing facilitators each body needs and this sparked a fire of self-education ever since.
Interest in essential oils was on my list of self-study and I loved using them with clients and diffusing them in my office and home. I also found a deep appreciation for nutrition and what we choose to put in our bodies. 2012, I decided to go back to school for nutrition and I received my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition Science in November 2014. This way my scope of practice was more open to helping others not just physically but also nutritionally.
My nutrition and self-care services range from a free 30-minute overview to 3-6 months of support and consulting to help others achieve their health and wellness goals. Creating a lifestyle that sticks is the power behind a long and healthy life.
Client satisfaction and education on self-care, massage, healthy lifestyles, and natural solutions are key. These methods have changed my and my family’s lives and so many others.
I am dedicated to helping others;
Heal from past injuries
Corrections from muscular dysfunction
Stress reduction
Pain relief
Nutrition consulting
Essential oils education
Aromatherapy and more…
Nutrition counseling helps people take control of their health. Learning and applying simple-to-use concepts for optimal health is the key to preventing disease, as well as healing the body from disease and illness. Since World War II nutrition science has become a highly regarded discipline that offers hope in controlling our destiny by preventing or delaying several diseases related to nutrition, and lifestyle.
Essential oils and aromatherapy have been used since ancient Egyptian times as early as 4500 B.C. in cosmetics, ointments, and preventative care. They are a wonderful part of our lives that can aid in so many health benefits from stress relief to energy boosts, from sore muscles to skin conditions and so much more…
Massage has always been one of the most natural and instinctive means of relieving pain and discomfort. It is believed that the art of massage was first mentioned in writing about 2000 B.C. Manual medicine is the use of the hands in the treatment of injury and disease. Its therapeutic value derives from changes in the soft tissue and structure rather than from surgery or pharmaceuticals.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
People need touch and connection with others. There are better ways to heal the body than with dramatic pharmaceuticals, which of course do serve a purpose.
However, advocating for one’s health and using natural solutions is truly a preventative measure for possible future health crises. Making smart choices now creates a much smaller chance of bad health in our later years of life. Living life to the fullest until the end is a choice I want for myself and I help others do the same.
