My career in mortgage lending spans more than 30 years and has always been guided by one purpose: helping people make confident, informed decisions around one of the most important financial commitments of their lives. I began on the operational side of the industry, learning the business from the ground up, and quickly realized that every loan represents far more than numbers—it represents a person, a family, and a future.
Clear, honest communication has been the foundation of my work from the beginning. Alongside my top team member and loan processor, Andie Tait, we carefully evaluate loan programs to keep payments aligned with each client’s personal budget while working directly with our in-house underwriting team. By staying closely connected with buyers, sellers, agents, title, and underwriting, we’re able to deliver smooth, on-time closings with no surprises.
Many of my clients become lifelong friends, a responsibility I take seriously. I provide the same straightforward guidance I would give my own family—an approach that has led to lasting relationships, repeat clients, and multi-generational referrals.
After decades in the industry, I had the opportunity to purchase Banner Mortgage from a dear friend and mentor after many years of working together. Continuing the legacy she built allowed me to create a locally owned business rooted in trust, integrity, and truly personal service.
Community involvement has always been a natural extension of my work. I’m proud to be a Homes for Heroes loan specialist, partnering with Homes for Heroes to provide meaningful savings to those who serve our communities, including first responders, educators, healthcare professionals, veterans, and law enforcement. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most long-term careers, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. Over the past 30 years, the mortgage industry has experienced major disruption—from the housing market crash to volatile interest rates and sweeping regulatory changes. The housing crash, in particular, was a defining moment. Guidelines tightened almost overnight, uncertainty became the norm, and borrowers needed steady, informed guidance during an extremely difficult time.
Since then, increasing compliance requirements and rapidly evolving technology have continued to add complexity to the lending process. Successfully navigating these changes requires experience, adaptability, and clear, consistent communication.
These challenges reinforced what matters most to me: transparency, realistic expectations, a broad range of financing options, and a commitment to putting clients first. Those lessons shaped how I serve clients today and why Banner Mortgage was built on trust, stability, and long-term relationships—regardless of market conditions.
