Today, we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Von Sprecken.
Hi Matthew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a very skinny kid, lacking confidence. As a result, I found the gym in college and never looked back. Formed an LLC while I was still in college to work with people around the globe as I took a keen interest in the endocrine system and biomechanics while studying exercise science at Colorado State University.
Since then, I’ve expanded to more than 100 clients monthly with success stories around every corner, applying the finest of sciences to the most brute-like actions in the weight room. I’m blessed to be able to work with people from all different walks of life, and they trust me and my background and education to understand their body and their system to keep them healthy and whole and, more importantly, to help them progress!
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest part about being self employed is understanding what process works for you, when you have a boss and work for a company you have your skillset that you’re hired for and then you have training etc. that goes into teaching you exactly what you need to do to use that skillset.
When it comes to your brand and using your likeness and abilities as an individual underneath your own roof of abilities, you have to figure out how to market that and how to reach a crowd specifically for your skillset, and that was difficult in the beginning. A very long period of trial and error took place before I was able to hone in on something that worked effectively.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I personalize health, wellness, and fitness routines and optimize the human body for people all around the world, keeping the body on its toes by switching everything up every single month.
I’m known for being the coach that understands that everybody is different and requires different things, there is not a one size fits all approach for this and thus everyone should not be doing the same routine.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that I don’t have backing from anyone else; I built this up and marketed for years, showing my transformations from a 135lb 18-year-old to now a 220lb bodybuilder and successful businessman.
I always abide by the work hard, play hard method, and deep down, I’m just a science nerd who took that to the ultimate level in terms of taking a 180 and going from pure research to application using the human body to see how far I can take it!
Do you have any advice for those just starting?
It’s not a fast process, and if you’re starting a business yourself, you need to understand that what you see in the movies is not what happens first.
It sounds great at the start, but people don’t understand that it’s a long, grueling process to build your own brand from nothing. In my opinion, the exponential progress and unlimited growth are worth it tenfold, and the positives far outweigh the negatives.
I’m nearly three years in now and I couldn’t see myself living life any other way, it allows for a lot of freedom but requires a ton of discipline when you’re the judge jury and executioner of your work schedule and your plans and progression.
