Today we’d like to introduce you to Md Yasin.
Hi Md, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Md Yasin, the CTO and co-founder of TheKitchenTable. My journey into tech started pretty early. Before I even began my college degree, I was already teaching myself how to code. I didn’t come from a traditional computer science background, so most of what I know today came from long nights of self-learning, experimenting, breaking things, and building them again.
Over time, that curiosity turned into real skills, and I started working on small projects and freelance work. That’s where I realized I loved building products that solve real problems for people.
Later, I met my co-founder, Marvin, through the Y Combinator network. We connected over the idea of creating something meaningful in the food and hospitality space. That’s how TheKitchenTable was born. We wanted to build a platform that connects clients with private chefs, making it easy for people to enjoy personalized, in-home dining experiences based on their cuisine preferences.
Since then, I’ve been leading the technical side of the company—building the platform, improving the system, and making sure everything runs smoothly as we grow. It’s been a journey full of learning, challenges, and exciting milestones, and I’m really grateful to be part of building something from the ground up.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a very meaningful one.
One of the biggest challenges was building a platform that connects clients and chefs in a smooth and reliable way. In the early days, we were a very small team, so I was handling most of the technical side myself. That meant constantly fixing bugs, improving performance, and making sure the system could handle real users without issues. Every new feature came with its own challenges, and many times we had to rebuild or redesign parts of the system to make the experience better for both chefs and clients.
Another major challenge was finding the right market fit. We weren’t just building a piece of software, we were creating a new kind of experience. We had to understand what chefs actually needed, what clients expected, and how to make both sides feel comfortable using the platform. That meant a lot of testing, feedback, and iteration. Some ideas worked, and some didn’t, but each version helped us get closer to the right solution.
Working with a small team also meant we had to move fast and be very resourceful. We couldn’t rely on big budgets or large departments, so we focused on building what truly mattered and improving it step by step.
Overall, the journey has been challenging, but those challenges helped us build a stronger product and a better understanding of our users.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
TheKitchenTable is a platform that connects clients with private chefs for personalized, in-home dining experiences. Our goal is to make high-quality, chef-prepared meals more accessible, whether it’s for a family dinner, a special celebration, or a small private event. Clients can explore chefs based on their cuisine, style, and availability, and book an experience that feels personal rather than transactional.
What we specialize in is creating a smooth and reliable connection between chefs and clients. We focus on making the process simple for both sides clients can easily discover and book the right chef, and chefs can manage requests, communicate with customers, and grow their personal brand through our platform.
In the U.S., many talented chefs are underpaid and don’t always have the freedom to build their own careers. With TheKitchenTable, chefs can become their own boss, set their prices, and work directly with clients who value their skills.
What sets us apart is our focus on experience and trust. We’re not just a booking platform we’re helping chefs build their personal brand while giving clients a simple, more personal way to enjoy high-quality dining at home.
How do you define success?
For me, success means building something that creates real value for people. At TheKitchenTable, success isn’t just about numbers or growth it’s about helping chefs earn better, become their own boss, and build their personal brands, while giving clients meaningful dining experiences at home.
I also see success as constant progress. If we’re learning, improving the product, and making the experience better for both chefs and clients, that’s success to me. It’s about building something sustainable, useful, and impactful over the long term, not just quick wins.
