Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Driscoll.
Hi Michelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I and my husband Evan started Mulberry Maids in early 2018 to provide a well-needed service to our community. We understood the positive health benefits that can be associated with living in a clean environment, such as an increase in well-being, enhanced sleep, optimal productivity, and a decrease in stress, and we wanted to provide that to members of our community who may not have the time, ability, or interest to clean themselves.
We set out to build a company that treats all employees like an equal, treating them with respect, and giving them autonomy to flourish with us. From the beginning, we built systems that allow us to operate efficiently to provide top-notch customer satisfaction. Over these last 5 years, we’ve grown our team to 17 cleaning professionals and two admins in addition to Evan and me. We have cleanings 7 days a week and impact thousands of households per year.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Building anything up from scratch comes with its challenges. We were simultaneously learning a new industry, figuring out best practices and equipment, and developing our systems. Thankfully we haven’t hit any catastrophic hurdles, and we’ve learned and grown a lot along the way!
The largest challenge is hiring. We strive to hire employees that are a good fit with our team, our customers, and our values. We are lucky to have an incredible, hard-working, and fun team. We’ve developed a hiring process that helps us find employees who are a good fit, but this will always be a challenge.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mulberry Maids. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in residential cleaning services in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor. We provide regular cleaning services, one-time deep cleanings, and move-in/move-out services. We are most proud of our incredibly hard-working team. We strive to hire detail-oriented employees who have a strong work ethic and a good heart.
We offer our team a lot of schedule flexibility, as we support and understand the need to balance work with family or school. We strive to decrease our overhead as much as possible to pay higher and attract and retain good people. Having a hard-working team that cares allows us to provide high-quality, detail-oriented service. Our goal at the end of today is to “Wow” every customer every time, and we offer top-notch customer service if by chance that does not happen.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Our full-time Admin, Lauren, has been an indispensable part of our team for the past two years. She grew up with her parents running a small business, so she fully understands what it takes to help a small business run and flourish.
Her vision and goals are perfectly aligned with ours. She is constantly bringing new ideas to enhance our company and increase efficiency with operations. She is also a scheduling master and has developed a phenomenal relationship with our customers and our team.
In all honesty and I know it sounds cliche, but really each and every team member has been an integral part of our success. We are very lucky to have an incredible team. Everyone shows up to work in the morning knowing that we are all working together to provide a great service.
