Hidden Gems: Meet Paul Hylenski of Quantum Leap Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Hylenski.

Paul Hylenski

Hi Paul, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My career journey began with a profound passion for technology and innovation. This passion was further fueled by my service in the Marine Corps, where I developed discipline, resilience, and leadership skills that have been instrumental throughout my career. After my military service, I transitioned into the aerospace manufacturing industry, eventually becoming an Aerospace Manufacturing Director. This role allowed me to oversee complex projects and drive technological advancements.

Founding Quantum Leap Academy was a natural progression in my career. As the President and CEO, my goal was to bridge the gap between advanced AI concepts and practical applications, making this knowledge accessible to all.

In addition to my professional work, I am deeply committed to giving back to the community, particularly to veterans. I volunteer my time to help veterans utilize AI tools to build their resumes and enhance their job search efforts. Through interactive workshops, I assist them in crafting impactful LinkedIn profiles, updating their photos and banners, and leveraging AI to stand out in the job market. This volunteer work is incredibly rewarding, allowing me to use technology to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who have served our country.

Another significant milestone in my career was writing “The Secret Code of Influence,” which shares insights on the power of influence and its practical applications, drawing from my extensive experience. I have authored five books on leadership and changing culture, including “Culture Change through Environment Change,” “Coaching for Growth,” “Error-Proofing Humans,” and “The Evolution of Leadership.” My passion for transforming leadership practices drives my writing and professional endeavors.

Today, I continue to push the boundaries of AI, driven by a desire to educate and inspire. Whether through our affordable courses, interactive book signings, or volunteer work with veterans, my goal remains to make advanced knowledge accessible and to nurture the next generation of innovators.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to where I am today has been anything but smooth. Growing up, I witnessed my father endure poor leadership, which profoundly impacted me. This exposure to ineffective leadership continued early in my career. These experiences taught me that leadership could either uplift or devastate people’s lives. I decided to break the cycle and committed to changing lives through better leadership.

One of the toughest challenges I faced was securing my first TEDx Talk. It took 150 applications before I was accepted, but perseverance paid off. Today, I am proud to have delivered three TEDx Talks. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and determination.

When I spoke about writing my first book, a manager dismissively told me that no one would read it. Instead of letting this deter me, it fueled my determination to prove them wrong. I wrote and published my first book, which led to two Amazon bestsellers. These accomplishments are a testament to the power of perseverance and the drive to overcome criticism.

These struggles and criticisms have only strengthened my resolve. Through these experiences, I have learned that effective leadership and unwavering perseverance can profoundly impact people’s lives. My journey has reinforced my commitment to making a positive difference and inspiring others to do the same.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
When I was a child, my mom decided to teach me how to roller skate. I remember her holding my hand, guiding me patiently as I wobbled on my skates. Despite my best efforts, I kept falling, but each time, my mom was there to pick me up. She would tell me, “It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, only how many times you are willing to get back up.” She explained that failure is part of the learning process, and perseverance is what counts.

One memorable day, while we were practicing in our neighborhood, a writer from the local Newark, DE paper happened to drive by. He saw my mom teaching me to roller skate and asked if he could take a picture. He snapped a photo and later wrote a short article about it. I thought it was incredibly cool that, despite my struggles with roller skating, we ended up in the local paper. It was a special moment that highlighted the importance of resilience and the bond between my mom and me.

My mom taught me so many different things and she was a beacon of hope for me. She is part of the reason why I have never stopped and will not stop. I have a vision to make the workplace world better. Companies can have great profits and treat their people amazing.
