Hidden Gems: Meet Rachel Hasler of Fox and Kit Chiropractic

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Hasler.

Rachel Hasler

Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for chiropractic began with my own experience as a chiropractic patient when I was a teenager and grew as I studied exercise science in college. During that time I also worked as a receptionist and chiropractic assistant for my chiropractor, and I was able to see the changes he was able to make in so many of his patients’ lives. It was while I was in chiropractic school that I discovered my love for prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric chiropractic.

My first job after school was working for a high-volume chiropractic practice where patients were scheduled every 5 minutes, and I didn’t feel that I was able to give each patient the time and unique attention that they deserved. After experiencing that business model I knew that I needed to start my own practice where I could focus on the quality of the care I provide rather than the quantity of patients seen in a day.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a turbulent ride from graduating from chiropractic school to entering my fourth year of practice and 3rd year of business ownership.

Chiropractic school does a wonderful job of teaching us how to diagnose and care for patients, but it does not cover how to start, run, and market a business! I’ve been blessed with a great community of other holistic healthcare professionals here in Colorado Springs to learn from and collaborate with to reach those who seek alternative healthcare solutions.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Fox and Kit Chiropractic?
One of the biggest things that sets me apart from other chiropractors in town is the time I spend with each patient. This allows us to discuss thoroughly what is going on with them physically, as well as gives the time to address their needs thoroughly with adjustments and any other supportive therapy such as kinesiology taping, E-stim, percussion therapy, or myofascial release techniques.

For my pregnant mama, I utilize an assessment technique called Webster Technique which allows me to analyze the ligaments, muscles, and joints most affected by their pregnancy and provide the appropriate adjustments. I love being able to give the assessment and adjustment for these mama’s the appropriate time, because so often they are rushed through their other prenatal appointments with other providers. Here they can relax and leave feeling refreshed and able to take on their day whether that be at work or with their other kiddos.

I have also focused many of my continuing education hours on caring for children. Chiropractic care for children is as gentle as checking the ripeness of a peach at the grocery store, but provides incredible benefits for the development in the first few years of life! It can help with many conditions such as torticollis, plagiocephaly, or constipation.

What were you like growing up?
As a kid, I was a huge bookworm, I loved to learn as much as I could about just about anything, as long as it was through reading. I was able to use that love for learning to get me through my undergraduate program and into chiropractic school.

When the hands-on training in my chiropractic education came around it really took me outside of my comfort zone, but in all the best ways, I cannot imagine working in any other profession. I am forever grateful for the growth that came from that time of life and how I have been able to use those skills to help my patients over the past 4 years.
