Hidden Gems: Meet Rachel Shelton of Fill Your Cup With Rach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Shelton.

Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

After realizing the great contribution that my personal yoga practice brought into my life. I decided to embark on the path of teaching yoga myself. In 2018 I finished my yoga teacher training (YTT) and jumped in with both feet. From my basic knowledge of yoga, I started to pursue more learning opportunities in meditation and mindfulness healing practices and started to explore sound healing. I soon after became a Certified Meditation teacher and Sound healer. In 2019 I found myself tired all the time, bloated, and with sluggish digestion- I knew something was amiss. I was eventually diagnosed with a serious internal infection. Narrowly escaping sepsis and death by toxic shock. After being misdiagnosed and brushed off from doctor to doctor throughout the course of a year and a half, I couldn’t help but feel failed by modern medicine and the sick care system that dominates the United States. I took my healing into my own hands by perusing education in herbalism and nutrition. I was able to aid in my own healing process with the knowledge I gained around the use of plant medicines by implementing herbal teas, tinctures, aromatherapy, and overall dietary, nutritional, and lifestyle changes. During this time, I completed education courses and am a Certified Herbalist and Certified Integrative Health and Nutrition Coach.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

I would not call it a smooth road. Life is often full of challenges. Some of the challenges that have sent me down this path include addiction to drugs and alcohol, death, trauma, homelessness, and financial instability.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Rachel is an Integrative Health Coach offering 1:1 and group coaching services in yoga, meditation, nutrition, herbalism, and sound healing. Through my coaching business, Fill Your Cup With Rach, I help individuals struggling with different areas of health through numerous holistic health methods. Together we work through what I call primary foods as well as secondary foods. I help individuals to tune into their unique needs and uncover the answers that reside within them. I help my clients to integrate the knowledge that we uncover to help them lead healthier and happier lives.

What sets me apart from other coaches are the systems and integration methods that I use. I coach through primary food-What nourishes your life off of the plate. Your career, homelife, spirituality, physical fitness, relationships, or social life etc., as well as secondary food- What foods are you nourishing your body with. We address dietary sensitivities, health concerns, and behavioral habits around food. I use the method of a Bio-Individual Approach-Just as we are all unique in mind, body, and spirit – we are also unique in the things that support our individual health and happiness. Meaning what works for one may not work for all. So every coaching program is truly unique and tailored specifically to that individual client’s needs.

I am most proud of the special events and community offerings that I am able to host and partake in. I most enjoy hosting women’s empowerment retreats and community healing events throughout the Denver metro area. I often collaborate with other healers in the Denver area to host community sound healing, meditation, yoga, and reiki healing events.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?

Gotta risk it for the biscuit. I think risk-taking is crucial for personal development. To me, your ability to assess risk and achieve and desired outcome helps your personal development, confidence, and future risk-taking opportunity and assessment.

One of the risks I’ve taken in my life was quitting a stable job to pursue a more heart-aligned career doing what I am truly passionate about and helping others at the same time. I love being able to uplift my community and bring joy and happiness to others.
