Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Kloss.
Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. Like many people drawn to holistic medicine, my journey started with my own health struggles. As a teenager and young adult, I dealt with a number of chronic symptoms (painful periods, acne, fatigue, and gut issues) that conventional doctors either dismissed as “normal” or labeled as idiopathic, meaning they had no known cause. I was often told to take birth control or pain medications, but those interventions never got to the root of the problem and often left me with more side effects than solutions.
While I was in college, my roommate recommended acupuncture. I was skeptical at first, but I noticed that with each session, I felt better. I was sleeping better, less anxious, way more calm and more aware of my body, and had more energy almost immediately. I was amazed that my acupuncturist could gather so much information just by looking at my tongue and feeling my pulse, as well as all of the questions she asked to understand the state of my health. It felt like the first time someone was really looking at the whole picture of my health, not just isolated symptoms.
My experience as a patient receiving acupuncture and herbal medicine changed the trajectory of my life. I started auditing Chinese medicine classes, signed up for extra anatomy and physiology coursework, and eventually enrolled in a four-year Master’s program in Chinese medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in 2015. While in school, I served as a tutor for other students teaching them herbal medicine, which is a huge passion of mine and a huge part of my practice today. In 2019, I graduated at the top of my class and passed all four national board exams to become licensed in Colorado.
While I loved the education I was receiving in school, the intense course load was stressful, and during that time I started experiencing gynecological symptoms severe enough to land me in the ER. Despite multiple visits to specialists, no one had clear answers for me, which was incredibly frustrating. That eye-opening experience fueled my decision to specialize in women’s health. I realized how many women especially were being underserved, unheard, or misdiagnosed in conventional settings.
Since becoming licensed, I’ve worked with hundreds of women on issues ranging from painful periods and hormone imbalances to fertility and helping women to conceive, supporting gut health, and even addressing mysterious symptoms, long covid, and chronic fatigue. I believe healing is a journey, and my role is to offer not only effective treatments, but also education, support, and sustainable tools that empower women to reclaim their health naturally.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! When I finally graduated after 4 long years of school (with no summer vacations might I add!), and then passed all 4 national board exams a few months later it was the end of 2019. In September, I started looking for jobs and then was hired at a clinic that offered to move me across the country from Pennsylvania to Colorado. I was so excited to start something new and begin my career. However, we all know that in the beginning of 2020, the world shut down and also challenged the way that a lot of service-based businesses and acupuncture clinics practiced- causing the clinic to close in just a few months after uprooting my life across the country. I then worked for a few other clinics, before deciding that if I really wanted to be able to practice in a way that was aligned for me, then I would I have to start my own clinic. In my experience, I’ve learned that to be successful you have to constantly be honing your professional skills (in both acupuncture and herbal medicine), as well as business skills; yet too many people were only focused on the business side of things. To be honest, that almost burned me out! So I created a clinic that fulfills my desire to help people achieve real results in a tangible, measurable way. It’s incredibly fulfilling, even if it’s sometimes more financially challenging. I offer many services; however, when it comes to treating chronic disease, very often custom Chinese herbal medicine is incredibly effective. The challenge is that Chinese herbal medicine is not something that many people are even aware exists, let alone a valid and efficient option for treating many chronic health issues. I see amazing results for people suffering with chronic issues when they take custom herbs (by a board certified herbalist, of course!), sometimes seeing amazing results in just a few days or weeks.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run a private acupuncture and herbal medicine practice in Longmont, Colorado, where I specialize in women’s health and hormone balance, fertility, chronic disease and pain, gut health, emotional wellness, and holistic skin care. My approach combines the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine with modern insights into functional and integrative health, offering personalized treatment plans that address the root cause, not just the symptoms. I personally feel like “root-cause” has become a bit of a buzzword lately, but what this means to me is that once health issues are adequately treated, whether it’s inflammation, hormonal imbalances, nervous system stress, or gut dysfunction-you shouldn’t have to rely on pills, herbs, or supplements forever for some conditions. Healing becomes more sustainable, and often, a cascade of seemingly unrelated symptoms begin to resolve at the same time.
What I’m most known for is helping women who feel dismissed or stuck in conventional systems finally get real answers and real relief. In short, I help women lengthen their “short” cycles (cycles less than 27-28 days), regulate their long cycles (cycles over 32-33 days), decrease their pain, clotting and heavy bleeding, resolve fatigue, and help women get pregnant or achieve optimal health. Whether it’s endometriosis, PCOS, irregular cycles, post-pill hormone chaos, digestive issues, or unexplained fatigue, I help connect the dots and support healing in a way that feels validating and empowering. It’s not really always that I “fix” people, but rather give them the tools and knowledge to learn how to support their bodies so that we can work as a team.
What sets my practice apart is the level of individualized care I offer as well as my knowledge base in custom Chinese herbal medicine. I take time with every patient, and we dive deep by looking at menstrual history, emotional patterns, digestion, sleep, lifestyle, and more. I also pair acupuncture sessions with customized herbal formulas, nutrition guidance, as well as lifestyle and stress reduction tools, so clients feel truly seen and supported throughout their healing journey.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust my patients place in me and the way they often tell me, “You’re the first provider who really listened and was able to offer real results!”.
If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s that your symptoms are not random. Your body is wise, and there are ways to heal that don’t involve just masking symptoms.Western medicine can be lifesaving and very helpful, but it’s not the only option, especially for chronic disease. Whether you’re trying to regulate your cycle for health or prepare to conceive, improve your digestion, reduce your stress, decrease or resolve chronic pain or other ailments, I’m here to help you get to the root so you can live life to the fullest and feel like yourself again.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely. One person who has played a significant role in my growth as a practitioner is Chris Volesky, an incredibly skilled acupuncturist and herbalist based here in Longmont, Colorado as well. Chris has been practicing for over 15 years and has been a generous resource to me, especially as I’ve honed my herbal medicine skills.
He also teaches through a program called TCM Hub, along with Michael Peluso and Rebecca Ong, which is an amazing educational resource for acupuncturists looking to expand their herbal practice and knowledge. It’s an extremely relevant and clinically-useful program which teaches how to efficiently prescribe herbs for complex cases and the modern day patient.
Anyone in healthcare knows how tricky it can be to treat close family members, so I often send my own partner and loved ones to Chris for care. Not only have I learned a great deal from him, but I also deeply trust his expertise. He’s someone who truly embodies individualized care and results-driven medicine.
If you’re in the Longmont or Denver area and struggling with headaches or migraines, that’s one of Chris’ clinical specialties and I highly recommend reaching out to him for support!
