Hidden Gems: Meet Sara Wilhelm, Realtor with milehimodern

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Wilhelm.

Hi Sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Colorado native and grew up in a small farm town on the east side of the state, which has instilled in me a strong focus on values and connection. I’ve lived here my entire life and love all that the Colorado lifestyle has to offer, from Denver’s urban neighborhoods & friendly people, to enjoying activities like hiking and skiing in our beautiful mountains.

I’ve been working full time in real estate since 2010. Prior to that I worked in fundraising and marketing for a non-profit organization and corporate event sales. In 2010 I purchased my first investment property, a short-sale home that we flipped and have held as a rental. I’ve since purchased two additional rental properties and a vacation home that we rent to guests. Having personally experienced the wealth and stability that real estate can provide motivates me to educate my friends and clients about how they can get started on the same path. Many people think you have to have loads of money to become an investor, and that’s just not true. Investing in real estate can be for anyone. You just have to get creative and think outside the box.

I recently switched brokerages, and am currently with milehimodern, a Colorado brokerage focused on the artistry of living. We believe that every home has a soul-filled story to tell. The marketing milemimodern provides is next-level, from beautiful photography to professional storytelling, milemimodern helps me provide the highest level of service and marketing for my clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2018, shortly after my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, and thyroid cancer 2 years later. I’ve spent the past 3 years going through various types of treatment, surgery and rehab. I am grateful I have a job that allowed me to spend time at home healing and going through treatments, while still maintaining a high level of business. I try to maintain a positive attitude in whatever I do, and still working with clients helped me take my focus off of being sick and maintain some sort of normalcy. Now that I’m on the other side of cancer I’m excited to get back to enjoying life fully! Having cancer definitely made me think about what is important in my life and has helped me focus my energy every day on making the most of every moment and to try not to sweat the small stuff so much. Life is short, make it the life you want today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Over the past 11 years, I’ve loved working with clients from all walks of life, from first-time home buyers, to investors, to empty nesters. I really enjoy the process of educating people about Denver’s different neighborhoods throughout the process of buying and match them with neighborhoods that best fit their lifestyles. I love helping buyers find a home that makes them feel energized and joyful.

From the listing perspective, I work hard to advise my clients & help them to transform their homes so that they are show-ready and sell for top dollar. Through professional staging, photos, and a stellar marketing team at milehimodern, my goal is to tell the story of the home to every potential buyer, helping my clients get the best offers possible. I strive to guide clients through the process to create a great experience for everyone involved. I work to create trusting relationships with my clients and work hard to earn that trust from our first meeting. Because of that, most of my current clients are referrals and repeat clients – many who have become friends over the years.

What matters most to you?
Family, Joy, Experiencing life to its fullest and helping others do the same. I’m passionate about our community and local business. From a giving perspective, my dollars go to the Sun Valley Youth Center, providing services for children & families in one of Denver’s most underserved communities, and various animal organizations, including MaxFund.
