Hidden Gems: Meet Satia Herrera of Satya Skin Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Satia Herrera.

Hi Satia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As I envisioned my career, I saw myself building a business and brand that was intentional and flexible. My entry into the beauty industry was through MAC Cosmetics in 2018, which led to becoming a licensed esthetician in 2019. Now, after six years, I have completed additional education and am certified in multiple areas of esthetics. Microneedling, lash extensions, and chemical peels, to name a few. As my business grew, I transitioned Satya Skin Studio various times to provide new services and to present the ever-evolving versions of myself. Today, Satya Skin Studio attends multiple vendor events offering permanent jewelry and all other aesthetic services at my home-based studio. Additionally, Satya Skin Studio sells handmade jewelry and aromatherapy ritual products at Alchemy Ritual Goods in Denver.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a business during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic was not the sharpest decision I’ve ever made. During the seven years of building my business, I became a mother, a divorcee, and a full-time student at UCD pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a dual minor in Criminal Justice and Human Relations and Family Development. In turn, the challenges faced over the last seven years have built a great deal of character and strength into who I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Satya Skin Studio?
Satya Skin Studio is a home-based studio in Denver, Colorado. Both holistic and beauty services are offered, as spirituality and intentional self-reconnection play a large role in the business model. I’m very proud to be celebrating the first anniversary of permanent jewelry at Satya Skin Studio this August. Offering permanent jewelry has opened up opportunities for networking and connections with new friends that I never thought imaginable. Adding permanent jewelry as an aesthetic service has been a great addition to my rotation of services, as it pushes me outside to meet new people. Furthermore, I’ve recently expanded my service menu to include new holistic and energy healing offerings, along with handmade aromatherapy ritual products designed to complement these services. Satya Skin Studio always has a new idea blooming.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
While I don’t want to reveal too much just yet, big changes are in alignment for Satya Skin Studio. After graduation, the business model will shift in meaningful ways. With the foundation of Satya Skin Studio and my bachelor’s degree, I’m deeply passionate about creating space for beauty services that support survivors of violence and abuse. This shift will bring a new meaning to beauty, one rooted in healing and the reclamation of voices that have been silenced
