Hidden Gems: Meet Shavande Green of R. Léryn & Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shavande Green.

Hi Shavande, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
R. Léryn & Co. Is a Luxury Dessert Studio that began as an outlet of mine to help me cope with the challenges of being a new mom and dealing with postpartum depression. Creating became my therapy as it was healing. Fun fact: My business is named after my daughter Riélle Léryn!

I started my journey in 2017, after creating custom desserts for my daughter’s 1st birthday. Originally, I only intended on creating things for my children to celebrate them on their birthdays and different occasions but it later turned into so much more. As I shared my journey with close family and friends, as well as on social media, the demand for me to create desserts for others began to flow in.

With the help of good ol’ YouTube and determination, I managed to teach myself how to create various desserts catered to different themes. After creating my daughter’s 1st birthday cake, which was a complete flop, I was destined to keep trying my hand at cake. I studied everything I could, took a few online classes, and kept practicing. I had finally found my niche and began to transition to doing more cakes than treats.

What started as a hobby turned treat business, has now elevated to luxury custom cakes and desserts that are now catered towards celebrating all of life’s special occasions. Over the last few years, I’ve worked really hard on perfecting my craft and creating an experience like no other. Through the years, I’ve grown to enjoy creating more luxury-style cakes and desserts that cater to those that enjoy things that taste as good as they look!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has definitely not been smooth. Some of the major obstacles I’ve faced were juggling and finding the balance between being a mom, a manager at my full-time job, and growing my business. Let’s just say it’s still a work in progress but I’m learning every day!

Another obstacle I’ve faced has been finding my lane of expertise. I’ve done many things on this journey but have found so much joy and success in creating beautiful lavish cakes. I’ve learned that it’s okay to have a specific style or design aesthetic and stick to it because that’s where I perform best.

I specialize in luxury buttercream cakes, and decadent desserts such as luxe monogram cupcakes, irresistible dessert shooters, gourmet apples, luxe donuts, glam pops, and so much more for your special occasions. I pride myself in providing quality products that not only look aesthetically pleasing to the eye but also taste just as good, if not better!

I am best known for my lavish cakes & monogram cupcakes, as well as my unforgettable cheesecake dessert jars!

Because each dessert is handcrafted with my clients in mind, it’s an experience that is unique to each person. Tailored to create the vibes you can taste and see while enjoying a delicious sweet treat.

As a luxury dessert studio, I make it my mission to provide amazing customer experiences as well as unforgettable desserts. Each item that is created, has so much love and good energy poured into it. I pride myself on delivering unforgettable, sweet moments!

As a brand, I am most proud of my growth. Through the years, I’ve overcome everything I thought I couldn’t and I’m turning my dreams into a reality on cake at a time!

My future plans are to eventually run my business full time and open a cake studio.
