Hidden Gems: Meet Tay Sisinni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Sisinni.

Hi Tay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
A week before quarantine in 2020 I started Tay Plans Parties. Not the perfect start but gave me a lot of time to prep.

The first wedding I was a day of coordinator for was a small intimate backyard wedding. Now I do weddings at various venues on Long Island. In March of 2021, I started Mischievous Sticker Co. Inspiration was my 13-year-old calico Mischief. I’ve been participating in various fairs on Long Island to get the brand out there.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The timing has been a struggle. Quarantine/COVID put a harsh tone on events. I think my biggest struggle is with imposter syndrome. It makes you doubt every move you make in your business. I was painting a mural in honor of my pop-pop and I questioned my abilities. But I learned you have to train your brain otherwise you’ll never progress.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Tay Plans Parties – it’s funny I never thought I’d do weddings but they honestly are so much fun and eventful. I think I am still figuring out how to set myself apart from other event planners.

Mischievous Sticker Co. It started with getting a Cricut for Christmas and progressed into a sticker business. Vinyl stickers are what I do most. I recently did a seating chart for a wedding that combined painted flowers and vinyl stickers. I think what sets me apart is all the fun stickers I make that feature curses. For the most part, people love bluntness.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Therapy is the biggest help of all. I think you need to have a healthy outlet that will help heal your brain. Being the only employee of your brand it’s important to have a healthy work environment. I also ask for help on Tik Tok. There are so many compassionate business owners that love to help.
