Inspiring Conversations with Adam Neville of The Neville Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Neville

Adam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After I graduated college from the University of West Florida I moved back to my home state of Colorado. I had a short and rather unsuccessful pro golfing career which led me to realizing that I needed to find something more lucrative and something that had a brighter future. I attempted a couple bar tending gigs but that was not ever going anywhere until I met a great man that was the head of large oil and gas company. Fortunately this man was gracious enough to give me an opportunity. I spent 4 years working as a rough neck where I met some incredible people and learned some amazing life lessons. I learned that you can never give up no matter how heavy something is or how cold outside it can possibly be. The mind will always outlast the body in extreme conditions. In 2015 the oil field crashed and about 70% of the work force was laid off. I was at a loss of what to do and my wife suggested we throw all of our eggs into one basket and I join forces with her as a realtor. We had flipped a couple home previous to my teaming up with her and I already had a lot of experience with remodeling homes and also know about the build process. Natalie and I went from being apart half the year to seeing and working along side each other every day. We certainly had our growing pains but quickly learned which roles we both excelled at and have never looked back. We got to where we are today by being extremely hands on with our clients. We do most of the repair work ourselves to our clients homes and we handle all the staging when necessary.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As I mentioned, we certainly had our growing pains in the beginning and we don’t always see eye to eye on negotiations but we all talk it out and come to a solid solution that is best for our clients. We do not pay for leads with our business and we are 100% referral based. Our data base took a little while to build up so that was definitely frustrating for me. I was also used to making a very nice salary and not having that income took some patience for me. Luckily it only took about two years before we started making that amount of money again and have now exceeded what I was making in the oil field.

I would say that my greatest challenge in the beginning of my real estate career was making the switch from a career that was 75% based on my physical strength to a career that was mostly mental.

I will say that our family and friends have played a significant role in our success and without them I am not sure all of this would be possible, Our parents have always encouraged us and luckily my wife has 10 brothers and sisters that all needed help with their real estate needs.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Neville Group?
Our real estate licenses is with Keller Williams DTC, LLC but my wife and I pretty much run our own real estate company. We specialize in being extremely hands on with our clients. Our Niche is that we do the vast majority of the work ourselves. If a home is in need of repairs prior to listing or after the sale, we tackle those upgrades. I have remodeled many homes which include, flooring, paint, tile work, plumbing corrections, trim work, cabinets, etc. This is exactly what we are know for with our clients. The other great attribute we have is that Natalie and I have developed a very extensive Vendor List. If there is anything that we are not comfortable tackling, we have the people that can do it. We have developed extremely close relationships with all of our vendors and and worked on many projects with them. The services that we offer do not compare to the average realtor. We also specialize in helping elderly individuals that have lived in their homes for many years. We recently took on a home where the owner was in her late 70’s and recently lost her husband. This individual was also a hoarder. Our elderly client was so lost on where to start the process that she literally thought she would die in home. We assured her that we would make the process as easy as possible for her. Long story short, we ended up filling up 3 large roll offs, 6 moving pods, we did a few renovations such as new flooring and paint, and we were able to sell her home in less than 48 hours.

Our clients also seem to really enjoy having both a male and female point of view when both selling and buying. Natalie is great with staging homes to sell along with seeing the vision for our buyers of what could be.

What’s next?
Our plans for the future are to continue to keep building our business and providing the most consistent and best service possible.

As for our personal lives, we plan to do some traveling in the near future. We just recently lost my wife’s sister to an long 6 year battle with cancer. My wife’s sister was an amazing person and they were the best of friends. We don’t want to just work all the time. We want to make more memories as we never know when our time will be up. My wife has always felt that the “life work balance” is key, key to a successful business and if you can’t enjoy the fruits of your labor, what’s the purpose?
