Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, I’m Amanda the owner of Rocky Mountain Sleepovers & Events!
I’m a full-time stay-at-home mom to my wonderful 3-year-old son, Kaden. I wouldn’t trade this season of life for anything, but I quickly realized I needed a creative outlet that would allow me to do something I truly loved.
After seeing a similar idea on social media, I fell in love with the concept and noticed there was a need for something like it here in Colorado Springs. That’s when Rocky Mountain Sleepovers & Events was born.
What started with a few teepee sleepover setups has grown into something I could have only dreamed of. I discovered how much I love helping families, friends, and businesses create magical, unforgettable memories through unique and personalized events.
Today, we’re honored to be part of so many special celebrations, including kids’ birthday parties, girls’ nights, corporate events, baby showers, bachelorette parties, and other occasions where people are looking for something fun, nostalgic, and one-of-a-kind.
As we’ve grown, so have our offerings. In addition to our signature sleepover experiences, we’ve added our incredibly popular Spa Parties, interactive Iron-On Patch Parties, Charm Bracelet Bars, and our newest favorite—a dreamy canopy sleepover setup that recently went viral! We can’t wait to bring this magical experience to even more celebrations.
All of the support over the past 3 years truly means the world to me. I look forward to what’s ahead and helping create beautiful memories that will be cherished for years to come!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge in this industry has been managing inventory. As the business has grown from teepee sleepovers to spa parties, craft workshops, and our new canopy setups, so has the amount of equipment and décor. Finding creative ways to organize and store everything while running the business from home has been an ongoing learning experience.
Like many small business owners, staying consistent on social media has also been a challenge. Social media is one of the biggest drivers of growth and exposure, but creating content while juggling motherhood isn’t always easy. I’ve learned that consistency is more important than perfection, and I do my best to show up authentically and share the joy behind what I do.
Another challenge of running a luxury sleepover business has been finding the balance between growing my business and protecting the time that matters most with my family. As a full-time stay-at-home mom, my son will always be my first priority. Learning how to build a successful business while still being fully present for him has definitely been my greatest obstacle—and my greatest accomplishment.
I’ve become very intentional about when I work. Most of my business tasks happen during nap time, after bedtime, or during quiet moments throughout the day. I also try to reserve as much weekend time as possible for my husband and son, since those moments together are something I truly value.
Every obstacle has taught me something valuable. Running this business has required flexibility, organization, and a lot of late nights, but it’s also shown me that it’s possible to pursue a passion while still putting my family first. That balance isn’t always perfect, but it’s one I’m incredibly proud of.
