Inspiring Conversations with Anahita Lake-Khosravi of Empowered Living Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anahita Lake-Khosravi.

Hi Anahita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Previously I was working as a school psychologist, but when I started having kids I knew I wanted a different schedule so I started in private practice with my friend, June. After a few months working together we decided we wanted to hire other therapists to become a group practice. We both had had some awful work/supervisor experiences in the past and wanted to make sure that was different for anyone we would go on to hire. We also care deeply about serving underserved populations and diver populations. We made it our mission to create a group practice that focused on clinical excellence while also prioritizing the needs of our therapists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Mostly yes. It’s been a TON of learning though, both about the business side of a therapy practice, but also about ourselves. We’ve had to step into roles we weren’t necessarily ready for or expecting, and we’ve had to find ways to make sure we are taking care of our own wellbeing. Business can be overwhelming and become a 24/7 job, but we’ve finally found ways to separate our work life from our real lives.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a therapy group practice that provides therapy and assessment to children, teens, and adults. We specialize in working with marginalized populations (including LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and culturally diverse clients). We are known for providing clinically excellent therapy, while also allowing clients to show up as their full selves and ensure they have agency in the work we do with them. Our team of therapists loves the work they do and have formed genuinely strong relationships with each other, so they can also show up as their healthiest selves with their clients. June and I are most proud of fostering an environment that puts our therapist and clients first. We ensure therapists are only working with clients they truly love working with and know they can help.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love how quickly you can access the mountains, while still having the city feel. I do wish our city wasn’t so segregated.

Pricing:

  • Our individual therapy sessions range from $115 – $195 depending on licensure of the clinician
  • Our assessment services range from $1600-$4000 depending on scope of the assessment
