Inspiring Conversations with Angie Rhoades of SmileLogic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Rhoades.

Hi Angie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Colorado is a unique state that allows dental hygienists autonomy of their career path. It is one of the few places where a hygienist can own and operate their own dental hygiene practice.

After many years of working in other offices, the last being a “corporate-owned” office, I was burned out. I needed a new challenge. At that exact time in my life, an opportunity came up where another hygienist who built a great practice was ready to retire.

Our paths crossed, and the stars aligned. I was able to purchase and take over the practice in late 2010.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with anything that is new, there were definitely things that I had to learn along the way. I had experience in dental front office operations, but not the ownership aspect. Learning about payroll, taxes overhead, etc. was the first challenge. Navigating the crazy insurance business has also been a challenge.

I have learned about marketing, advertising, and the importance of word-of-mouth referrals!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SmileLogic?
SmileLogic is a dental hygienist-owned and operated office. We offer preventative dental care in a super relaxed setting. While our services are similar in cost to other offices, we do not upsell dentistry. If you have a dental concern or issue, we are able to refer you to a dentist that we trust and work with regularly.

The benefits of having direct access to care is not only cost-saving but also time-saving. Our appointments are not booked months out, scheduling is flexible, and there is no waiting in the lobby for your appointment- as we stay on time, 99.9% of the time.

In these COVID times, we are seeing a shortage of providers in dentistry. Many offices are utilizing temporary or contract hygienists to see their patients. We take pride in being able to provide excellent clinical care, and maintaining ongoing relationships with our patients- you will not have a different provider every time you have an appointment.

We offer dental hygiene care that ranges from preventative (x-rays, regular “dental cleanings”) to periodontal treatments and maintenance (gum disease). We happily accept adults and children and can help process your dental insurance claims. We are in-network with Cigna, Delta Dental of Colorado, and Medicaid.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I run my office solo, but I have an incredible support system. My husband, Chad has been my biggest supporter, and he is the unofficial handyman at the practice. I have a great CPA and bookkeeper that help me stay sane. My networking friends that I have made through the Superior Chamber of Commerce are now my “inner circle,” and I appreciate their ongoing support!
