Today, we’d like to introduce you to Antonée Thomson.
Hi Antonée, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Sure! I’ve always been drawn to the world of health & medicine, so I began my career in Neuroscience with a Master’s degree. Though I loved learning and teaching the fascinating intricacies of our brains, I decided to move away from the field to pursue a more creative path in business. For two decades, I had a successful career in brand strategy, research, and product innovation. Yet, I always felt a strong gravitational pull back to my true passions of health and wellness, teaching, and helping others.
As the pandemic hit, my perspective shifted. It coincided with a time when I was transitioning in my body and mind, starting to tangibly feel my health shift in new ways due to aging, stress, and natural female transitions over time. While I grew up an athlete and have always stayed physically fit, I started to realize the incredible value of slowing down and taking care of my mental and emotional health as well. Once I did that, my physical health improved, and I’ve never felt better.
Simultaneously, many of my female friends & colleagues were dealing with similar issues as they moved into their late 30s and beyond. Their health was suffering due to persistent stress, poor work/life balance, increasingly sedentary lifestyles, hormonal issues, and competing priorities across their personal and professional lives.
That led me to launch Lyrical Rise, a women’s health & wellness company–where my mission is to empower, unite, and mobilize brave women to transform their health in Midlife!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many obstacles along the way, but one of my top values is tenacity–courageously pushing through adversity–and I lean into challenges with a growth mindset. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to simply be in the ‘ring’ or ‘arena.’
Launching a business solo comes with a host of challenges in itself, but I’d say one of the greatest challenges I’ve been confronted with is trying my best never to lose sight of my WHY. When the waters get rough, just reminding myself of the incredible impact I can make on so many women’s lives. I’ve seen the powerful changes that my clients are making for their health and happiness, and I cannot wait to expand it even more.
There are so many unknowns with being an entrepreneur, and I can’t say I know exactly where this health business will take me one day–but I’m so excited to be on this ride. Every single day, I’m grateful that I worked hard throughout my career to be able to take this leap of faith and risk–to help many women live healthier, happier, and more active for decades to come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lyrical Rise is a health & wellness company that helps women in Midlife dramatically improve their physical, mental, and emotional wellness. I specifically focus on Midlife as large longitudinal studies have shown it to be a critical period for our health to prevent future chronic disease and ensure we are active in our ‘golden years.’ It is also the time when women often make their greatest impact on future generations–along their career and parenting journeys.
As a Women’s Health Strategist, I equip women with knowledge, tools, and powerful action steps to improve their health. Taking a holistic approach, I focus on three key areas of their wellness–Movement (exercise), Nourishment (nutrition), and Neurohealth (sleep + mental health).
My coaching strategies are very intentionally grounded in behavioral neuroscience to help my clients make lasting, impactful changes over time. I work with women individually in private 1:1 sessions, as well as in groups–both virtually and in person in Boulder & Denver. I also host women’s wellness retreats.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m a Creative at heart. Whether it’s drawing, painting, visting interactive art exhibits, or writing, nothing lights me up like engaging in the arts. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in many different medians–from graphic design to photography, painting and, most recently, ink line drawings.
Those who know me well or work with me also know that I’m also a plant fanatic. They make my space brighter and happier. I live in harmony with 30+ plants in my office now, and I’m sure more will join our community soon!
