Inspiring Conversations with Bailey Ness of Nesscessity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Ness. 

Hi Bailey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?

I grew up in Minnesota and studied fashion marketing at the University of Minnesota. In the summertime, I worked in New York City in the fashion industry. I went to graduate school at Colorado State University and studied Design and Merchandising. While I was in graduate school, I started doing freelance social media marketing as a side hustle. My plan was to go back to New York and work in fashion after I graduated but it didn’t make sense when Covid hit when I graduated in May of 2020. Because I already had a few clients, I decided to see if I could try to pursue social media more full-time. Originally, I just created an LLC (nesscessity) for tax purposes but soon decided to brand the company into a full-force social media marketing agency. After a few months of working on nesscessity solo, I added the very talented Maria Eastman to the team to lead all things involving copywriting. A year later, I was able to add the very talented Laura Piscopio to the team to lead all things graphic design. Since starting in May 2020, nesscessity has worked with 50+ companies to grow their social media platforms, and businesses.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road! I first started nesscessity right after graduating college, so I had never had a full-time job, other than working internships. This made it quite difficult to operate a business because I had never really seen how a business operates. I pretty much have had to make it up as I go and hope everything works out! Because of this, I have been through a lot of trial and error but I truly believe that the best way to learn something is to actually do it.

We are social media specialists with experience growing social media accounts for over 25 companies within the last year. As social media emerges to become one of the most powerful platforms for businesses and individuals to grow their brands, our ultimate goal is to help companies reach their goals – whether it’s increasing sales, brand awareness, or website traffic through the effective use of social media marketing. 

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
It is no secret that social media is one of the top marketing tools if you want to successfully grow your business. I do not see this trend changing anytime soon, rather I think that social media marketing will increase even more in the 10 years. More social media platforms might arise and the current platforms will continue to generate sales, leads, etc.
