Today we’d like to introduce you to Berenice Barreiro.
Hi Berenice , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started photography after a day out in the mountains. I was fishing with my ex his band and got a glimpse of a beautiful blue bird. I grabbed my camera and played in manual settings. I ended up taking a really good picture of the bird. Thought to myself it would be great to get into photography as a business so I could also stay home with my newborn at the time. So slowly I started capturing moments for my friends and family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not always easy. Being a photographer means I spend most of my time marketing, looking for leads, replying to emails…anything to help me book the shoot. But it definitely pays up when I get to capture moments for families/individuals.

I specialize in portrait photography. I love working with families, expectant mothers, weddings & boudoir. I am Latina, bilingual & a mother which gives me the ability to resonate with so many people of all walks of life. I’m mostly proud of putting myself and my brand out there because being a business owner is not as easy as many might think, it’s a lot of hard work. I love capturing the moments in life that you can cherish for the rest of your life and generations to come. Life just goes by too fast, so if you can book me as your photographer and let’s freeze time.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What has worked best for me is finding similar creatives like me who I can learn and grow from. Community is everything.
