Inspiring Conversations with Brandi Kwesell of The Day

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Kwesell.

Hi Brandi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
The story of The Day began 7 years ago when I started this company. I wanted to provide brides with an on-location, all-inclusive hair, and makeup experience here in Colorado Springs. On my own, I was an established bridal hairstylist while also servicing a full clientele in a salon. While I love everything about the beauty industry and being a hairstylist, bridal hair has always the icing on the cake for me.

At that time there was a need for an on-location beauty company specializing in bridal hair and makeup. New venues were including bridal suites on site and brides were no longer needing to travel to a salon on their wedding day. Thank goodness too because it is so much more convenient for the bride to have her beauty team come to her instead. It makes for a much more relaxing wedding day!

We started with two hairstylists and one makeup artist. Over the years we have grown beyond my wildest dreams and currently are the largest and most top-rated bridal hair and makeup company in Colorado Springs. While we are based in Colorado Springs, we do offer our services throughout the Greater Front Range.

I believe what got me here is consistency, passion, hard work, and a lot of drive. Those 4 things are my recipe for success.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some aspects have been very smooth. The growth of my team over the years has felt very natural and organic. I feel very lucky to have the most experienced hairstylists and makeup artists seeking out my company and having a successful and safe place to work in. I take The Day’s company culture very seriously and am grateful for every artist who has been a part of this journey.

There have been struggles and challenges and I am grateful for every single one. Starting this company and being a business owner is one of the greatest decisions I have ever made and I try to remind myself that with every hurdle comes growth within myself as a business owner as well as a learning opportunity.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Day is an on-location hair and makeup company based in Colorado Springs.  We are a team of licensed hairstylists and makeup artists and we specialize in bridal beauty. We are known for providing beautiful hair and makeup services to brides and wedding parties as well as being top-rated in the overall experience.

Brides trust us with such an important aspect of their wedding day, literally how they LOOK and how they FEEL is in our hands. Look good, feel good right? It is a big job and we love it. It is an honor to have been a part of so many beautiful memories for hundreds of brides over the years.

I think there is a lot that sets us apart from the crowd. First would be the level of experience within our team and every artist here. Brides deserve qualified beauty professionals and I will always stand by that. It takes extensive passion and several years of hands-on experience to achieve our level of service, and experience remains my number one requirement when bringing on new team members.

While we pride ourselves on the beautiful services we provide, that is not all what we are about here at The Day. I may be most proud of the level of professionalism every bride will experience with my company. From the first inquiry, all the way through the wedding day, we are with them every step of the way. We provide a detailed wedding day schedule as well as remain available for any beauty (and sometimes not beauty related) questions and concerns throughout their planning process. I believe the level of professionalism has gained us many vendor referrals and also the number one recommended beauty team locally.

I am beyond proud of the company culture and team dynamic of The Day. To work alongside so many strong and talented artists who truly enjoy each other is refreshing and uplifting. It is very important for me to provide a healthy work environment for my team members and to let them know how grateful I am for their dedication to this business and our brides. The beautiful part about it is they carry the culture with them to wedding days when they are with brides and wedding parties. It is an energy that is happy, fun and caring.  It is a beautiful thing to watch women lift up other women through art and beauty and we have it mastered.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I carry with me every day is consistency is key.
