Inspiring Conversations with Brittni Sterner of Rocky Mountain Relationship and Family Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittni Sterner.

Hi Brittni, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Founded in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, Rocky Mountain Relationship and Family Therapy began as a one-person practice rooted in my hometown of Englewood, Colorado. I started this practice with a simple but meaningful mission: to provide accessible, compassionate mental health support to the community I grew up in. From the beginning, I made it a priority to personally respond to every client who reached out, because feeling seen and supported should start from the very first contact.

In just a few years, our practice has grown significantly, a reflection of both the need in our community and the trust we’ve built. What started as a solo venture has now expanded into a thriving group of eight dedicated clinicians. We proudly offer therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families across Englewood and surrounding areas. While our team has grown, our values have remained the same: personalized care, strong relationships, and a deep commitment to helping people heal and connect.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a therapist is deeply rewarding but it also comes with its own unique challenges. As clinicians, prioritizing our own mental health is essential so we can show up fully for our clients. When I stepped into the role of group practice owner, I quickly discovered that running a business adds an entirely new layer of complexity.

After expanding my practice, I dove into the world of business ownership, largely teaching myself how to build and manage a group practice. I sought guidance from other practice owners, and their insight proved invaluable in helping me navigate growing pains and ultimately create a thriving, supportive environment for both clients and clinicians.

There were moments when I questioned whether the business would survive. The pressure was real, especially because I care so deeply about providing mental health support to my community. But through perseverance, learning, and connection, I found stability and strength and now I’m proud to lead a group that continues to grow and serve with purpose.
