Today we’d like to introduce you to Brynna Herbener.
Hi Brynna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was introduced to Oracle cards around 13-14 years ago when I was in middle school. I was immediately drawn to them and found them to be a wonderful tool for my spiritual journey and development of my intuition. Later, I started learning about Tarot and shifted my focus to that. After many years of reading Tarot and Oracle cards for myself and friends/family I decided to start reading professionally around six years ago. I also have a college background in Fashion Design and passion for personal style. My newest offering Mystic Adornment Tarot Readings incorporate this into Tarot. In this kind of reading, we pull cards to help you develop your personal style by looking at both the practical and subtle energies that factor into how you dress.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Tarot itself generally feels very smooth for me. When I sit down with a client, it feels easy for me to receive messages from the cards. I have however struggled with managing my energy. It has taken a lot of time and practice to figure out how to stay spiritually open without taking on other people’s energy. When I first started reading for the public, I’d come home utterly exhausted. However, since then I’ve built much more energetic stamina and created rituals before and after readings to care for myself. Marketing and the business side of things is also a bit of a challenge for me. I have learned a lot and am still learning how to best market myself.
We’ve been impressed with Brynna Alice Tarot, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
While I do offer general Tarot readings, I am really excited about my Mystic Adornment Tarot offering. Tarot has been a powerful tool for me in my style exploration and I am happy to be able to offer this to others. There are a couple people out there doing some similar things and I think people are starting to think about Tarot as a potential tool for self adornment. But it’s exciting to be in a newer area of Tarot offerings.
Over the years I have had lots of couples naturally come to me for relationship readings. So I decided to make this an offering as well. I don’t have any special training in working with relationships. I just read the cards as I would with an individual person. I am always so touched by the love I get to witness in these kinds of readings. It is really a privilege.
I am also fluent in English and Spanish and offer Tarot readings in both languages.
Yo hablo inglés y español con fluidez. Ofrezco lecturas de tarot en los dos idiomas.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I’d advise against dividing the Tarot into “good” cards and “bad” cards. It is common and natural to find certain cards challenging. Generally, the Death, Tower, and Devil cards conjure a lot of fear for people. They can be oversimplified and taken too literally. These challenging cards however, hold some of the richest areas of growth and self discovery in the Tarot. Similarly it is common to view other cards as only “good”—often the Sun card, Empress, and Star fall into this category. Like the human experience Tarot describes, however, it is much more complex and nuanced. Being able to sit in liminal, grey space is a wonderful quality for a Tarot reader.
