Inspiring Conversations with Carrin Fernandes

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Carrin Fernandes.

Carrin Fernandes

Hi Carrin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have been a licensed massage therapist for 24 years and a certified life, health, and bereavement coach for 2 years. Helping people out of pain is my life’s passion. I’ve always loved to help people and being of service to others is my love language. When I was a child, my mom would ask her children to give her a back massage. I always enjoyed doing that. My mom passed away when I was 18 years old.

When I was 23, I moved to Summit County, Colorado for a year and found a holistic massage therapy school. It made me feel closer to my mom becoming a massage therapist. I feel like she guided me into that field of work. I opened up my own private massage therapy practice in January of 2009, in Westfield, New Jersey. I love my profession. My clients became like family to me. My average client has been with me for over 13 years.

In 2021, I lost the most important person in my life, my father. It was a devastating loss for my entire family. It was then I dove deeper into holistic healing modalities. I became a certified life, health, and bereavement coach. I always loved my time in Colorado and wanted to move back there for many years, but I was unwilling to be that far from my father.

When he passed away, I decided it was time to go back. I relocated to Colorado Springs in May of 2023 to start completely over.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Moving across the country and starting completely over has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. Three weeks after I moved out west, my oldest sister got sick and was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was a very difficult time for her and my entire family.

She died in January of 2024. It is still something I am grieving and processing. I then myself became sick with an autonomic nervous system disorder. It has without a doubt been a challenging year of ups and downs, but ultimately it has deepened my trust and dependency on God.

As I went deeper into my own healing journey going through this, I learned to surrender control and release what I couldn’t control into the hands of the Divine. I realized that I was not alone on my walk and I was indeed being led, guided, and transformed through my struggles into the person I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Carrin Fernandes Therapeutic Massage & Coaching?
I specialize in pain management & chronic repetitive injuries. In all my massages and bodywork I include the Young Living Essential Oils, which are great for muscle aches, spasms & strains as well as helping to alleviate Depression, Anxiety, and Stress.

I also include any type of massage pressure or modality in every session, as well as light energetic work and sound healing all included in one affordable price. I’ve worked with professional athletes, chronic pain management, cystic fibrosis children, the elderly, hospice patients, cancer patients, burn victims, and everyday people struggling with the daily challenges of life.

My signature technique is a noninvasive one, where the client feels little to no discomfort at all, and will experience relief in the very first session. I work directly on the bones, as I passively bring the insertion or the muscle to its origin. The muscle will release on its own accord and bring the body back into homeostasis where it belongs.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in destiny, faith and God. Nothing in life happens by chance. I truly believe bodywork and coaching are two of the main vocations in my life and what I was born to do.

My 15-year practice in Westfield, New Jersey was created solely upon word of mouth. I trust that the people who are meant to come to me and become my clients are brought to me by Divine providence. I have a deep passion for helping others especially people who are in any type of pain.
