Inspiring Conversations with Colleen Carithers of Realty One Group Fourpoints and NOCO RECON, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colleen Carithers.

Hi Colleen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been a licensed real estate professional since 1997, specializing in residential properties throughout Northern Colorado, with a strong focus on Greeley and its surrounding communities. My passion for real estate is matched only by my deep connection to this community, where I’ve resided since 1978. As a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, I am committed to providing top-tier service, combining a positive and enjoyable approach with extensive local market knowledge and expertise.

My guiding principle is simple: if we’re not having fun, we’re doing it wrong! Being so familiar with the area, I possess an intimate understanding of the local market. I am an Employing Broker licensed by the Colorado Real Estate Commission. and a founding member of RealtyOne Group Fourpoints. I continuously seek opportunities for professional development, as I believe it allows me to better serve my clients. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from UNC and have served as an expert witness in civil real estate cases for attorneys and property value assessments for lenders.

I have a real passion for what I do, but I also love to travel. Recent trips include Thailand and Costa Rica, and and Adriatic cruise to Croatia is coming up in 2026! I also adore time with my three grown children and five grandchildren. I also raise French bulldog breeding females and love to read.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In 2017, I was caught completely off guard when a small mouth sore turned out to be Stage IV tongue cancer. This was the biggest challenge I have ever faced, but it was a beautiful journey because I saw the absolute BEST side of people. I was so supported in everything, not just by my family and friends but the people in my real estate community as well. I completed several surgeries, chemo and radiation and was able to maintain a positive outlook despite many, many complications and roadblocks. I got through by remembering that no matter how bad things were, if I looked around there was always someone else o think of who had been dealt a worse hand than me! I think maintaining a sense of gratefulness and beginning each day with a list of things we are thankful for is key to a positive mindset.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I mainly practice real estate sales, but also consult on the technical aspects of the business, mentor new agents, teach continuing education and provide advice and verification on determing values of different types of property. I also provide ancillary services such as transaction coordination and showing/serving/posting for a property management client.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My company provides a very structured mentorship programs for new agents, designed to empower them to become successful agents. Being in real estate means you are self-employed, though – no one is there to hand you business or hand you transactions. You only succeed if you are willing to put in the work. Like everything in life, there are no shortcuts. Also, if you always keep your clients at the center of your focus and let go of the end result, you will have a much less bumpy ride to the finish line. Real estate is an emotional journey – keep your clients goals first and foremost and you will have lifelong clients, and possibly new friends, at the end of the transaction.
