Inspiring Conversations with Denise DelPrincipe of ThoughtFull Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise DelPrincipe.

Hi Denise, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am an eating and feeding disorders Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and a yoga instructor – I have had these credentials for 10 and 3 years respectively. My business name is ThoughtFull Nutrition; I chose “Full” to signify being deserving of having a full belly and feeling full of confidence when choosing how to navigate individual health. I added my yoga training to my nutrition counseling practice to more wholly walk with the folks I work with in body and spatial awareness as they move through the recovery process, wading through the vast amount of nutrition information available to us at the click of a button. In May of 2024, shortly after moving to Colorado, I was in a vehicle accident that left me with a partial foot amputation. I have always practiced both nutrition and yoga from an “everyone is welcome and deserves to be here” perspective. With a physical limitation added to my mix, more than the daily chronic pain I experience, my new experience has given me much more insight to how the folks who trust me to walk with them experience hunger, fullness, and body dysmorphia. More than ever, my own yoga practice as well as the sessions I lead, are influenced by accepting the body for what it can do right now, and sitting in observation of the differences of experience between the sides of the body. Accessibility and acceptance are the two main words that float through my mind when practicing each of my specialties, and while I experience living in my own body.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growing a private practice has not been a smooth road. There have been hiccups in connections and building rapport with providers for referral – talk about intimidation! Marketing can be tough.
Also, my accident led to a few weeks off from seeing my folks who I was working with prior to the accident. So, communicating and keeping an open door policy for my clients has both been a saving grace and adds to the stressors of recovering from my injury.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
ThoughtFull Nutrition supports those struggling with feeding and/or eating disorders, in the out patient setting. It is the passion of TFN to help folks feel comfortable and confident in the choices they make around food and body. Nutrition is one of the trickiest topics because of the vast amount of information out there. I am proud to be a dietitian who meets my folks where they are to build up and offers space for set backs. I focus mainly on building a solid foundation of meeting energy needs and then explore what it feels like to be in the body. ThoughtFull Nutrition offers 1:1, group book studies, group support and gentle movement through a yoga base. ThoughtFull Nutrition is a private pay provider and offers limited sliding scale spaces on a case-by-case basis.
ThoughtFull Nutrition has served many populations from general nutrition guidance to supporting neurodiverse adults in a group home setting.
