Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Kate Amborski of Innate Vitalism Animal Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kate Amborski.

Hi Dr. Kate, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my career as a human chiropractor, helping people reconnect with the intelligence of their nervous system and tap into the body’s natural ability to heal and thrive. Chiropractic, to me, has always been about more than mobility or pain relief. It is about honoring the innate intelligence and vitalism that coordinate life in every being.

Over time, I felt a strong pull toward working with animals. Their nervous systems are so pure and instinctive, and the way they respond to gentle, specific adjustments is remarkable. Animals do not get better because we tell them they will – they get better because their bodies are designed to heal when nerve communication is clear and vitality can express freely.

I pursued a post-doctoral certification in animal chiropractic and expanded my practice to serve the animal community. Although I primarily care for dogs and horses, I truly believe anyone with a spine is a candidate for chiropractic care, and I have had the privilege of adjusting everything from working livestock to beloved household pets.

Today, I travel throughout Colorado supporting pets, performance animals, and working companions. Watching a senior dog regain confidence, a horse move with more ease and power, or an anxious animal soften and settle is powerful. This work is more than technique. It is a collaboration with nature and the innate intelligence within each being. I feel grateful every day to serve in this way and help animals live with full expression of their vitality.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been meaningful, but not always smooth. Chiropractic, especially when rooted in vitalism and nervous-system focus, still meets skepticism in the world. Even now, we continue educating people about the body’s innate ability to heal and why supporting the nervous system matters.

When I transitioned into animal chiropractic, that skepticism simply shifted forms. Some questioned whether animals could benefit from chiropractic care or whether it was “necessary.” Staying grounded in my philosophy and trusting what I witnessed in practice helped me stand firm. Animals do not fake their responses. Their bodies tell the truth.

There were practical hurdles too. Building a mobile practice from the ground up, investing in advanced training, and committing to serving animals across Colorado meant long days, long drives, and a deep belief in my mission.

Every challenge clarified my commitment. The moments that inspire me are not always dramatic, but they are powerful: watching a dog regain comfort and balance after a leg amputation, seeing a competitive barrel horse return to full power after an injury, or watching chronic allergy symptoms calm in a dog once their nervous system could regulate again. Those wins remind me exactly why I do this work.

The journey has made me more confident, more grateful, and more aligned with my purpose than ever.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My practice is rooted in a simple belief: every being with a spine deserves the chance to function at their highest potential. I am a mobile animal chiropractor serving Colorado, and I specialize in nervous system-focused chiropractic care for animals. I work with pets, performance and working animals, and companion animals of all ages and abilities.

What I do is very gentle, but the intention is extremely precise. I assess the spine and nervous system to find areas where communication is compromised, then I use specific adjustments to help restore clarity in that system. When the nervous system is able to communicate freely, the body has a greater ability to heal, regulate, and move the way it was designed to.

I am known for my blend of science and vitalistic philosophy. I deeply respect anatomy, biomechanics, and neurology, and I also honor the innate intelligence within each animal. That balance is at the heart of my work. Animals do not need to be convinced or coached into responding; their bodies tell the truth. When a dog starts moving more confidently again, when a horse softens and breathes, when an anxious or reactive animal settles into calm, that response is pure and honest.

I am especially proud of how many pet parents come to me after trying “everything else.” Often these animals are dealing with chronic issues, post-injury recovery, neurological imbalance, mobility challenges, or emotional stress in the nervous system. It is incredibly rewarding to watch them reclaim comfort, strength, and joy.

Brand-wise, my mission is education, empowerment, and accessibility. I want people to understand that chiropractic is not just about pain or mobility. It is about the nervous system and full-body vitality. I want to be a resource for pet parents, trainers, barns, rescue organizations, and anyone who wants to help animals thrive from the inside out.

Ultimately, my work is about honoring nature’s design. The nervous system runs everything. When it functions well, life expresses fully. Helping animals live in that state is my greatest privilege.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people are surprised to learn that I originally planned to work only with humans. I was certain human chiropractic was my path, and I didn’t expect to fall in love with animal chiropractic the way I did. Once I started working with animals and witnessing how purely they respond to nervous system work, everything shifted for me. Now I can’t imagine my career without them.

People are also often surprised by the depth behind this work. Chiropractic, to me, is about the nervous system and the innate intelligence that drives life. So I am always studying neurology, physiology, behavior, energetics, and how the body expresses stress and healing. That isn’t “extra” — that is chiropractic in my world. The work looks gentle and intuitive, but it is rooted in deep respect for how brilliantly the body is designed to function when the nervous system is clear.

And a fun fact — when I launched my animal chiropractic practice, I didn’t have a dog or a horse of my own. I had a bearded dragon. He was my first little practice buddy, and yes, he got adjusted regularly. Not everyone starts a career adjusting horses and golden retrievers… some of us start with a lizard and a vision.

And even now, it never stops being magical when an animal integrates the work — like when a dog does a full-body nervous system reset shake after an adjustment or when a horse drops into a lick-and-chew moment of release. I never get tired of those responses. They feel like nature saying, “yes.”
