Inspiring Conversations with Eleftheria Karakatsina of Greek Superherbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eleftheria Karakatsina.

Eleftheria Karakatsina

Hi Eleftheria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started three years ago when I moved from Greece to the US. I have always been into a healthy lifestyle, which, of course, included herbal infusions. However, I just couldn’t find anything “good” here. All I could find were tea bags filled with dust, artificial flavors, and colors. So, I decided to bring the herbs I grew up with—the GREEK SUPERHERBS.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! I didn’t have any support or funding, and I started by ordering a very small amount of wild herbs from Greece. My background as a marketer and creative director helped a lot, though, because I managed to create everything from scratch by myself.

This includes branding, the website, social media, photoshoots, literally everything. Oh, and I also handle fulfillment. I handpick the herbs by placing them in eco-kraft pouches and then in beautiful boxes to ensure that customers have the best experience. Greek Superherbs is a one-woman Greek business, and it’s not easy when you have to oversee everything.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Greek Superherbs?
At Greek Superherbs, I’m deeply passionate about sourcing and providing the finest Greek herbs. My products are not just carefully selected; they’re chosen with love and care to offer you the highest quality, allowing you to savor the true essence of Greece’s natural treasures.

I take pride in my dedication to authentic, Greek-grown herbs. From the iconic oregano of the Mediterranean, particularly from the blue zones of Ikaria, to the potent Greek mountain tea from Mount Olympus, I’m here to bring the incredible flavors and health benefits of Greece right to your table.

What truly sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to sustainability and quality. I work directly with local Greek farmers, not just as a business, but as a way to support their livelihoods and uphold traditional farming methods. This isn’t just about the products; it’s about making sure you receive the purest and most sustainable herbs.

My proudest moments are when I see you, my customers, enjoying my products and embracing the rich heritage of Greek cuisine and wellness. I don’t just sell herbs; I feel like an ambassador for Greece’s natural bounty, and it’s a role I cherish. I want you to know that Greek Superherbs is more than a business to me; it’s a passion project born out of my love for Greece and its incredible offerings.

My products are more than just items on a shelf; they represent a cultural and health journey through Greece. I wholeheartedly invite you to explore my range and join me on a flavorful and nutritious adventure through this beautiful country.

Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Certainly! Finding a mentor and networking effectively are essential steps in personal and professional growth. Here’s some advice based on what has worked well for me:

1. **Identify Your Goals:** Before seeking a mentor or networking opportunity, clarify your goals and what you hope to gain from the mentorship or networking relationships. Having a clear direction will help you find the right people and opportunities.

2. **Leverage Your Existing Network:** Start by tapping into your current contacts—friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances. Let them know what you’re looking for and ask if they can introduce you to potential mentors or contacts in your field of interest.

3. **Attend Relevant Events:** Attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and industry-specific events. These gatherings are excellent places to meet like-minded individuals and potential mentors who share your interests.

4. **Online Networking:** Utilize social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and industry-specific forums to connect with professionals in your field. Join relevant groups and participate in discussions to showcase your expertise and connect with potential mentors.

5. **Cold Outreach:** Don’t be afraid to reach out to potential mentors or contacts directly. Craft a well-thought-out message explaining your goals and how their expertise aligns with your interests.

6. **Offer Value:** When reaching out to potential mentors, show a genuine interest in their work and be willing to offer something in return, even if it’s just gratitude and a willingness to learn. Building a mutually beneficial relationship is key.

7. **Be Persistent and Patient:** Finding the right mentor or building a strong network takes time. Be persistent in your efforts and patient in your expectations. Relationships take time to develop.

8. **Give Back:** As you grow in your career, consider becoming a mentor yourself. Paying it forward can be incredibly rewarding and can expand your network further.

Remember that networking is not just about what you can gain but also about what you can contribute. Building genuine relationships and showing a sincere interest in others’ success can go a long way in finding a mentor and creating a strong professional network.
