Inspiring Conversations with Gabriel Maestas of Steadyhand Barber Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Maestas. 

Hi Gabriel, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Gabriel Maestas. I’ve been a licensed professional for about 7 years. Fresh out of barber school I was given an opportunity by Matthew Chavez to begin my career at a really quaint spot called Bellwether. I worked there for four years before deciding to branch off and start my own studio and brand, Steadyhand Barber Co. in 2019. 

While in barber school I had met Diego Carreon, who is now what I consider a brother, and knew we were riding the same wave! Diego actually joined our team at Bellwether and in 2020 when I was deciding to expand yet again, I had asked him to be my partner at Steadyhand. Here we are in 2022 after knowing and growing with each other for 7-8 years… couldn’t ask for a better team. Shoutout to my guys at Diego, Anthony, and G for helping build something we are very proud of! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Growing should never be “smooth”. I’m a firm believer that growth comes from being uncomfortable. Building a clientele and rapport with my people took years. There were times when first starting out that I would be at the shop from 9-9 and maybe only do a few haircuts. It was difficult, but I’m extremely thankful for those times because it helped shape who I am now. 

We opened the expansion of Steadyhand in Oct. of 2020, during the height of a pandemic and we certainly had our challenges. I went from a 215 sq/ft studio to a 1,300 sq/ft storefront so it has been a learning experience every single day. I’m grateful for all of our people and continued support. It wouldn’t be possible without them.

The business is Steadyhand Barber Co. We are located in the heart of Denver and we specialize in taking care of the community. We offer a fresh, yet classic perspective on grooming and focus on a top-notch service. 

We specialize in barbering. Real barbering. We believe in hot towel shaves, any style of haircut whether it is all shears or designs for the kids. We believe in ball-busting and banter between like-minded individuals. We believe that our camaraderie sets us apart, and we have created a unique and beautiful essence in our barbershop. 

Brand wise we offer meticulous execution. Clothing and product that you WANT to wear. Our branding and name is associated with, be the best at what you do otherwise why the hell even do it? Our brand takes care of people that take care of us. When you come to Steadyhand you don’t just stumble upon a place to get a haircut, you find your barber.

We just hired on a new barber, G Padilla. He is ready and able to get you taken care of! We are always looking to add hungry, driven, and passionate licensed professionals to the squad!
