Today, we’d like to introduce you to Gina Schettini.
Hi Gina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career with Circus Entertainment after years of working in the hospitality industry, serving and bartending, where I honed my skills in customer service. Encouraged by my partner, I ventured into the world of Circus Arts, where I started “walking the high life” as a stilt walker.
Turning a hobby of stilt walking into performing. After a few years of noticing a lack of gig opportunities, my partner and I created and started Elevated Circus in 2021. Gig by gig and event after event, we are growing and now have a steady client base and a residency for balloon twisting. I love to bring joy and excitement to events of all kinds.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. It’s been a roller coaster. The weather changes so quickly in Colorado!
Gigs or events canceled, changed location, or the date being rescheduled (then having the availability), which has taught us the importance of weather clauses and constantly updating our contracts. As we grow as a Circus Entertainment Company, being able to hire more local performers has been the most rewarding part of the journey.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Elevated Circus?
Elevated Circus specializes in all aspects of circus art and entertainment. From mesmerizing aerial, acrobatics, fire performances, and balloon twisting, we bring the magic of the circus!
We aim for nothing less than wowing our clients at every turn, constantly updating our circus equipment and specialty costumes. We offer discounted rates for nonprofits and teaching circuses at our local libraries.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Indeed, running and owning a business is a constant learning experience. From money management to hiring the right performer for an event and having an office person to handle all the paperwork, every decision shapes the path of the company.
I have learned that we are the company that will pay performers the same day as the gig. I’ll wait to compensate myself for any work until all performers are paid in full (if waiting on payment). A little bit of a pet peeve: waiting over a month for payment from an event (which is typical).
