Inspiring Conversations with Jessica Gutierrez of Balanced Butterfly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Gutierrez.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My business started with me wanting to share balance with others. I’ve always wanted to share my cleansings/limpias with my community. Doing energy work and creating spiritual tools to help others along their path in life has brought joy to my heart. I love walking in my purpose. After sharing my energy work with others, it’s no longer a question if I have a gift or not but how am I going to use it. I’ve always wanted to own my own business, so when the opportunity came along I couldn’t resist.

I started making Feeling Jars in February 2021. Feeling Jars all started from wanting to create an intention jar. I made myself one and thought why wouldn’t someone else benefit from this? I started with 6 different intentions jars. I currently make 11 different Feeling Jars. Other items soon followed. Protection Bells, River Glass Hearts, Evil Eye Anklets, Travel Cleansing Kit, and Suncatchers.

I’ve been doing energy work for friends and family for decades. My healing work comes from a place of understanding and compassion. I’m intuitive in my healing work. Listening to and understanding an individual’s needs is very important in energy cleansing. I decided to start sharing my cleansings/limpias with others outside of my family and friends in 2021 when I started doing energy work at Ancient Roots In Arvada Colorado.

I start the process by building trust with my clients. Offering a donation-based session to accumulate my hours of experience. I continue to take classes and learn different healing traditions. After many session hours, I currently offer cleansing/limpias on the weekends at Ancient Roots in Arvada.

My biggest push to explore my spiritual path happened when my grandmother passed in April 2008. The day of my grandmother’s services, it snowed that morning. The very light snow that sits on the branches, April snow in Colorado. At the cemetery, all of the grandkids were given carnations to place on her casket. Carnations were my grandma’s favorite flowers.

After I laid down my carnation I took a white rose from her floral arrangement on her casket. I then stepped to the side for our final goodbyes. From the corner of my eye, I saw something coming towards me. It was a butterfly. The butterfly landed on my rose so gracefully. As quickly as it came, it was gone. One of the most beautiful moments of my life. The butterfly relieved me of any loss or pain. Gifted me with a different perspective. An ending and a beginning for myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is a learning process. Having a lot of patience during the start has been a lesson in itself. I’ve learned how to hook up a printer (Thank you Bella), design a website, design tags for products and so much more. Marketing and technology have to be my biggest struggle. I am not a tech-savvy person at all. I’m learning how to budget income and buy supplies. I’m still learning the balance between family, working full-time, and running a business.

My biggest struggle would be overcoming my fear. My fear of what my friends, family, or strangers would think of me offering healing work. The growth started when I stepped out of my comfort zone and realized I was the only one stopping myself. It’s taken me many years to embrace my spiritual and healing gifts. To acknowledge I am an empath and I have an amazing intuition. Finding the strength to walk in my truth. Evolving my soul.

As you know, we’re big fans of Balanced Butterfly. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I offer energy work and make spiritual tools. What is a Cleansing/limpia? A “limpia” is a spiritual Cleansing that helps purge the mind, body, and soul of any negative energies. The energy that no longer resonates and is ready to be let go. I use eggs, feathers, herbs, and other tools to assist in the process. I focus on getting energy blocks removed. After you feel clearer, calmer, and more centered. I recommend cleansing for anyone needing assistance in letting go. If you are feeling low in energy, anxious or energetic blocks. Cleansings/limpias are a traditional ancestral way of healing.

What sets me apart from others is everything that I make comes from a personal need or want. Trying to find a product or a tool for a specific purpose, guided me into making tools for myself. If I have a need or want for a specific spiritual tool or item why wouldn’t somebody else? I believe my product is unique. I put my personal touch on everything. Every product is handmade. I also put intention and love into each item. Giving it a personal spiritual/magical touch.

I’m known for my Feeling Jars, little glass jars filled with stones and herbs for setting intentions. Feeling Jars are filled with intention, love, and light to give you all the feels from an assistance perspective. Each jar contains herbs and stones that correspond with set intentions. I use stones like Obsidian, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, and many more based on set intention. Same with the herbs combinations. You can use it during meditation or carry it on you for grounding throughout your day.

I’m most proud of my Feeling Jars and how well they do in shops. I receive so many compliments on how they help with sleep, addiction, or anxiety. I’m excited to make more for other intentions. I’ve done multiple vendor events to get my products into people’s hands. I love seeing people respond to my products. Pushes me to continue to make more products and get in more locations.
