Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Stauder.
Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My folks are plant people; one was a plant geneticist and the other was a landscape architect. I grew up in Texas, but I like to think that Colorado instigated several life changes for me, good and bad. I started in Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, with a specialization in environmental sustainability.
In 2009, I was involved in a major ski accident in Breckenridge, CO that had me airlifted off of the mountain and unconscious for a week. When I woke up, I ended up being the only patient to “walk out” of the ICU that year. Fast forward a few years, and I was dependent on opiate medication to manage the pain in my neck and back from the accident. Living miserably. Cannabis replaced opiates for me 100%.
I am no longer suffering from migraines and nerve pain. Cannabis has saved my life, as it has for countless others around the country. My life’s work now is to bring the same natural relief to inflicted folks around the world through consulting with cannabis license holders on their efforts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has not been a smooth road. As a former cannabis industry operator myself, I know firsthand how difficulties can arise from the development of an infantile market, ever-changing regulations, and increasing competition. That being said, I’ve always followed an organic compass when it comes to how I support the industry, which has led to my consulting efforts now through Stauderfish.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Stauderfish?
Stauderfish LLC leads the cannabis industry toward a sustainable future through the system and strategy-integrated facility design, energy evaluation, and optimization, cannabis business performance auditing, and proven strategies in sustainable Standard Operating Procedures. Owned and operated by a cannabis industry executive since 2012, Sustainability policymaker and current NCIA Officer, Stauderfish leverages seasoned cannabis business management and operations experience to positively impact operators’ lasting success in the cannabis marketplace.
I have carved my way through the weeds, learning just about every mistake in the book firsthand, to better prepare new and existing license holders to produce safe, effective, and compliant cannabis products at a low operational cost. I’m proud to say that our facilities are some of the most energy and resource efficient in the industry today.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Sure. I have always found value in an intact bridge. You never know where a new deal is coming from or which bridges it had to cross to get to you. Burning bridges by leaving a bad taste in clients’ and partners’ mouths is the quickest way to isolation, and that spells death these days. Your word is your bond – if you claim to be something or can do something for someone, back it up.
Also, an element of business altruism always seems to pay off. I am always happy to discuss a project’s potential with a prospective cannabis operator pro-bono to set the foundations of what to expect, even if that lands as bad news. Always happy to help a strategic partner in their efforts where I’m able.
