Inspiring Conversations with Justin Kohler of fox and robyn recording

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Kohler.

Hi Justin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started at a young age doing live sound at a start up church my parents where helping with. I then moved on the doing studio work in college where I learn Protools and studio etiquette.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Mostly it has been smooth but I have had a few bumps along the way. I had a divorce that derailed me for bit along with some financial issues that followed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about fox and robyn recording?
Fox and Robyn Recording is small residential recording studio that I built in the basement of my house. We have two interns that help us with day to day tasks in the studio. Fox and Robyn Recording uses mostly analogue equipment to record, mix and master the bands and artists that come through our doors.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Steven Moller – mentor, he help me learn and get to where I am today. He also saw the natural talent that I had and helped develop that.

Pricing:

• Recording – $45 per hour
• Mixing and Mastering – $150 per song
